OK. I understand of course - I said so - that you have some time for a last-minute test and all good with that. But every rider goes out every time for Warmup and surely not all of them are testing something perviously untested? If you're not testing something, it's a risk so close to race time. Look, obviously they know more than me but I just don't get it.

I don't understand the point of Warmup on the morning of race day. Perhaps a last-minute adjustment but frankly if you're not ready at that stage, it's too late excpet for a lst-minute tyre change or fine tuning somewhere. And even that is a punt because track temperature and conditions are different to those at race time. With the guys pushing it quite hard and some falling, surely the risk of injuring yourself or breaking the bike is not worth it. Pol, Nakagami, Lecuona and Marc Marquez all fell during Warmup. Luckily for them they all made the race but it could have been different. Comments?
  3. Thought you'd like it but didn't want to press you.
  4. Nice retro Kawaski for sale here: http://www.wilddog.za.net/forum/index.php?topic=245354.40
  5. Haha, clearly I don't get it (I have an Anthem). But good luck with your bike and make sure you enjoy it. That's what it's all about after all.
  6. Hairy, Not a HD but...... http://www.wilddog.za.net/forum/index.php?topic=257954.0
  7. "Fortunately I would not have to rely on the HD as my primary form of transport." I just wanted to be clear on this. I didn't mean having a HD as a primary form of transport. I meant having it as your only bike and primary form of 2 wheeled transport. Take your point about having bicycles which made no sense but gave you joy. I suppose motorcycling doesn't make sense in many respects but is for a sure a source of joy and the secret is to find it for yourself. When's the first ride?
  8. Hmm. Things change. OK, we won't be doing a daily commute but what about dropping off to the supermarket to buy stuff or riding to Paternoster or Riebeeck Kasteel for breakfast? I think one's usages change as one gets used to the bike. I'm not trying to put you off buying a HD, merely highlighting differences. Any chance you could borrow or rent one for a weekend test? Give you a feel for it.
  9. Hairy, I am going to provide an opinion here which may not be popular with some of our fellow members: In my opinion a HD is like a Fat Bike – great fun and, like many HD owners here have said, it puts a smile on your face. But not many have a Fat bike as their only bike and it maybe an extra toy to use but not something on which you would rely for transport and not appropriate for most cycling scenarios. I suspect the same is true of many Harleys with the owners having them for giggles but another bike as the main form of regular transport. Perhaps the HD owners here can chip in but I can’t imagine using it for longer trips or a weekend ride to Hermanus or similar on a regular basis. Of course this all depends on your intended use and frequency with which you plan to use the bike. Thoughts, anybody?
  10. Here you go... http://www.wilddog.za.net/forum/index.php?topic=255169.0
  11. I did exactly the same in my own car. After driving it around for 1 month. Geez

I agree but I thought the camera coverage was poor and not as good as at other tracks. Or is that just me?

    Oh dear..
  14. Apologies. Trying to post potos but they won't show. URL instead: http://www.wilddog.za.net/forum/index.php?topic=257654.0
  15. I reckon you would think differently if your jacket left a pool of oil under it..
  16. I empathise. This "on the road" charge is a plain ripoff. I walked away from a deal once because of it. You buy a vehicle in condition for use on the road and for them to charge for doing their job - adding hidden costs (your lack of transparency comment)- is out of line. The guys I was dealing with wanted to charge me R150 "cleaning fee" and R350 "Fica Fee" even though I was paying cash. I asked them if they bought a suit how would they respond to being charged a dry-cleaning fee? That shut them up.
  17. Geez, How do you do that? I thought of stopping but by the time the thought had crystallized in my head, I thought it was too much bother. I did wave oncoming traffic down though. It was my teeny contribution.
  18. A 3-in1 photo here. I think it applies to where has your bike taken you, is motorcycling allowed and also the snakes thread. Nice puffy I rode past on the road between Bot River and Theewaterskloof. Hope it made it.. I had trouble resising it so apologies if it doesn't look good I will rework it later
  19. All great but the top one, with the road calling into the distance, is my favourite. Swartberg is top of my list once this damn vaccine is sorted out. Will it be this year? Who knows? Ps: I note you pack like me - chaotically. Haha
  20. Spokey, 2 great photos and 2 great bikes. It's a measure of me now that I feel the KTM picture represents motorcycling more than the Ducati shot. Something to do with being closer to nature and more sensitive to conditions around you for safety's sake. Nevertheless they both capture bike and environment very well. More please..
  21. Edit: Nice watch.
  22. Haha, Who do you think you're kidding? Like you even looked at the bike..... Edit: But the voice...Eish...
  23. Haha. Riff raff indeed. I had to Google it to see what it was but knowing your history I sort of knew what to expect. It does look quite nice but no, not ridden one.
  24. Great work Andy. Next step: Following Itchy Boots' adventure up Sani.
  25. I think we are misunderstanding each other. When I said inland, I meant Great Karoo, not inland Transkei. Edit: So my fault, I didn't make myself clear.
