And for me the highlight was DB40 beating Alex Marquez. I think he rides on his brother's coattails and somehow manages to qualify well by following others in qualifying. I know it's tactics but it really gets to me for some reason.
  2. Geez Ben that's terrible. Condolences but as others have said at least you're OK and it could have been worse. Maybe too soon but can you take at least something positive out of this and consider it now as a project build from scratch?

I was curious to know why BB had such a bad start and disappointing race. Turns out his ride height device jammed in the down position all race. Considering those circumstances I would say he did very well to finish where he did. Despite nearly taking out his brother, haha
  4. Moring all, Took a ride last week with some of my mates. En route we met a very friendly guy who just walked up to us while we were parked chatting at the bottom of Du Toit's Kloof. He just came over to chat because he saw our bikes. Said he was also a biker and invited us to see his bottling plant where he bottles spring water. We went to visit him and he sent us n our way after giving us each a bottle of ice cold spring water and proudly showing us his collection of cars he races at Killarney and then, the finale - he unveiled a Honda CBX and a KTM 990. A proper petrolhead and enthusiast and a terrific guy. It's amazing how bikers gravitate to other bikers and instantly find common ground. From there we went to a place called Bike Forge. If you don't know it, it's another biker restaurant run by another enthusiast just off the R 46 between Wolsley and Tulbagh. A great collection of bikes and memorablia and the owner will talk bikes with you as long as you want. They have spit braais on occasions and big screens for MOTOGP and rugby. Coffee was great too. I recommend it as a break if you're out that way or even a visit as a day ride from town. https://goo.gl/maps/KS7GqbDGVvrcCCih6
  5. Thanks for the info. I currently use a Wild Dog but need to reassess. Can you please give me your guy's username?
  6. I have a question to you all on insurance: I have my bike on comprehensive cover, costing me about R700 pm. It is not on HP. I'm looking to cut those costs. What criteria, other than if it is financed, do you guys use to decide whether to go with comprehensive or just basic cover? Cheers.
  7. Ja, geez. The scam continues. Sanparks, Cape Nature - whoever. Thanks for the reply. I was thinking of taking a ride there but won't now.
  8. Can you go right through the area to the dam or do you need permits?
  9. Champion. Just down from the Round House
  10. Similar type of location. Here's another shot.
  11. Anybody recognise this place?
  12. With a buff, nogal. Top marks.
  13. Very nice. But why is it plugged into the TV?
  14. It's weird but I'm so used to ATGATT that on the odd occasion when I want to just move the bike around and don't wear gloves, it feels very weird and vulnerable.
  15. Your jacket.
  16. Lovely day out at Scarborough yesterday. Lots of bikes out.
  17. Hairy (and others who may be interested), just for future reference. Are you aware that you can get a day pass at the booth on the hout bay side of Chappies which allows you to go up as far as the last right hander before heading to the top lookout point? It's free and in Summer at least, is valid until 8pm. Quite nice if you want just a short ride without having to pay.
  18. Yes, WaynejG , I'm also relieved all is well with the youngster and you. Must have been a trauma to go through that and let's hope it doesn't happen again.
  19. Hairy, no pitchas?
  20. To those who have watched both this question: which do you think is tougher - Dakar or Cape Epic and why?
  21. Great photos Hairy. Exactly where is that?
  22. Gee that's frustrating. Is there a right to request a review? I still haven't heard a peep from them
  23. After looking at Calimoto in a bit more detail I've discovered a couple of details: 1: It doesn't do Gravel roads - or at least I can't seem to find them. 2: It has a nifty feature of finding rides in your area that others have logged and saved so you can do the same ride or use it as a base for your own. Personally, I think the ability to record my ride will be the most useful feature although I don't know what it will do once I hit a gravel road. Maybe try it this weekend.
  24. Andrew(and others who may be interested), I've been doing a bit of research with regard to Planning and recording trips. Came up with Calimoto which is highly regarded. Comes with both desktop and mobile versions which can synch, natch. Can also export gpx files and record a trip. Got some extra features like planning a random route for you from your location and need suggestions. You set the distance and it plans a route. If you don't like it you tell it to do another. Check it out. https://calimoto.com/ Edit: A review: https://rideruk.com/reviews/calimoto-review/
  25. Wannabee, Any progress for you on this? I have heard nothing and am thinking of contacting my accountants to make enquiries about it. But of course that costs me.. Grrrrr again.
