  1. Congrats! Enjoy!
  2. My like button is broken.
  3. Or go for the Harley Pirate look. Be sure to get the trucker cap, skull rings and wallet chain to stress your individuality.
  4. Grace under fire.
  5. and all the lawyers go...Mmmmm
  6. If your wife needs to occasionally be at the Waterfront and you are not tied down employment wise, why don't you consider an area in Cape Town. I might be wrong, and while I do not know your occupation, I would think that there would be more employment opportunities in CT than in Stellies or SW. Areas such as Constantia are great and offer a lot of value (relatively) and have a surfeit of good schools in the area. The peak hour traffic is much better than the N2 disaster and would be laughable to a denizen from the Big Smoke.
  7. Somerset West is a good area. It would be trying if your wife needs to get to the Waterfront or back during peak traffic periods. The commute to Stellies is easy to relatively easy depending on the time of day. There is a highly regarded school offering the international curriculum in SW.
  8. My contract has always been in in my personal name. Professional regulations. I must have slipped through the cracks. Re-thinking it, I think you are correct as at some point my wife's assistant arranged things so Vodacom probably offered the booster on my wife's corporate package.
  9. I have poor signal in the Cape Town CBD. Vodacom provided a free booster. Edit: more City Bowl than CBD.
  10. Your painting is very evocative. The colours, the chamfered city blocks, together with the famous Diagonal Avenue are distinctive.
  11. Barcelona?
  12. And its cool to hear the Romans speak latin.

    Tinnitus

If you think about it you will notice it. Try not to think about it.
  14. Cape Town is becoming overcrowded. Suck it up, Buttercup.
  15. The Tour went through a town we have a little pile in a few years back and I missed it due to work. I promised myself that would never happen again. It goes through the town again on Thursday after starting in Chauvigny, but Covid stepped up this time.
  16. Ile de Re is a fantastic place for a holiday and the small town of St Martin is particularly picturesque. There is a fort in St Martin which has the same star design as the Castle (fort) in Cape Town. I sure there will be a few aerial shots of the fort in today's aerial tv coverage and perhaps shot of a WW2 bunker or 2 on the beaches. La Rochelle is beautiful and has a lot of history, if that's your thing. It was the Huguenot stronghold against Richelieu and the Royal soldiers. Many of the French protestants that settled in Franschhoek hailed from La Rochelle. There is a school in Paarl called La Rochelle based on the above. Those with a surname like Du Toit, de Villiers, Labuschagne, Olivier and the like might feel a little nostalgic while watching today.
  17. Investec is very good, but they only assist certain categories of business. FNB/RMB are shockingly bad. They are particularly poor as regards forex, as I have found many times to my misfortune.
  18. Also wiser to avoid having it done in the heat of summer.
  19. A lesson I taught my daughters: never trust a person who reads only one book and/or does not drink.
  20. All the Greats loved the fruit of the vine: Caesar ( Julius and the rest) preferred Falarian. Napoleon was partial to Constantia Wine (of SA renown) in addition to the great French estates. Jefferson was a famous francophile vinophile. Churchill was fond of Bollinger, in addition to Claret. Etc Etc Etc Hitler was a teetotaller as is the Orange C%$t!
  21. Wine is the lubricant of poets and philosophers.
  22. Very cool. Rough detailing of the wrought iron, edges of the building, etc. with an fine artist's pen will make it pop. Edit: I enjoy seeing your work. Thank you for sharing.
