  1. Thanks to a fellow Hubber i just got my first polar (CS300 nogals). Nou gaan ek gatskop!
  2. check with you LBS. they should have. If not, beat them with a steel seat post...
  3. Must have been made by a 29'er fan.
  4. Ride my first Argus (must be sub 4) and then train for the DC. I did my first 100k this year, i'll do my first 200km next year.
  5. I got a R460 Specialized helmet. Saved me from brain damage once. Got it replaced with the crash warrentee. Seriously a good helmet.
  6. Did he just go there? Oh no he didnt......oh crap he did.... Yeah try both (if you can) and see which works for you. Mtb is more versatile, so it could be better to buy mtb first. You can do on road and off road. But for me.. Nothing beats sitting in a pace line riding in the drops at an insane speed! Glorious absolutely glorious.
  7. My helmet saved my life too in June this year. All the best with the recovery!
  8. ouch! heal up well
  9. Best excuse i've heard yet!
  10. Haha, both legs, all muscles (what it felt like). my legs locked up completely on Krommeree. Would you call that overuse of certain muscles or completely bonked? haha.
  11. This was 10 km before the end, there were no pickup stations ahead (he missed on 4km back), and what the hell is he doing facing oncoming traffic helmetless? Maybe its a lack of education from the club side. I pointing it out so that they can look into it. i couldnt get his number , he was on the far side of the road....
  12. Speaking of white lines, I saw a certain CTG rider sommer riding in the yellow line (on the right side of the road into oncoming traffic) coming down the hill after Klapmuts... with his helmet swinging from his handle bars! Absolute dumbass.... If I wasn't cramping so much I would of had some breath to shout at him..
  13. I agree. Logically you would do much better ito time, speed, energy to ride in a group. But this individualistic tendancies is irritating at best. But, what you gonna do. Head down and ride!
  14. Yeah, I rode close to 60% of the race alone because of this. It didnt matter if you chase or sat up and waited.... i tried both...
  15. One thing that wasnt nice, is there were no real peleton groups forming between groups j- n. I always felt like I was chasing a group. And when I got to them they were desolved already. Sometimes a group would form and a few km's down the road the gorup would split and you end up in the middle in no man's land. That tires you out big time. During the Engen we were big group riding together which was awesome. I was kinda hoping for the same here.... None the less, it was awesome! Cramps and all and all
  16. I fully agree!!! Those rolling hills between Wellington and Klapmuts in the wind was eina!
  17. I guess thats the main ingredient to a crampless ride!
  18. I had a bottle of Cadence Nutrition, bottle of water ( refilled three times), gels and GU bars. Next time I'll definitely take cramp blocks along! Thanks for the advice. There was no way in hell not finishing. Luckily I know the road (my training backyard), so that helped with getting my mind right.
  19. After the hill just after Klapmuts, one of your riders donning the CTG club gear decided that he will take the downhill on the far RIGHT side of the road (in the yellow line) with his helmet swinging from the handlebars. It might be something you want to look into. Thats just dumb (totally illegal) but dumb, especially if you ride for a club.
  20. I was riding for 3:30. But at Klapmuts I started cramping. On krommereer I stood up to pedal and everything seazed. Every muscle in my legs (thats what it felt like) cramped up. I almost crashed. Luckily I could get my one cleat out. I literally stood in a single position for a couple of minutes before I could even move. Finished 3:57. At least a sub4. Any advice to avoid cramping like that again?
  21. Goody bags are part of the show man! I can always do with another waterbottle.
  22. haha thanks!
  23. Ok i wanted to rant about no goody bags, but Jaco's problem is much much worse. Sorry to hear bro. Good luck.
