    Argus 2014

Entry done and dusted! PPA, racetec and argus entry all paid together, nogal eina on the bugdet...
  2. Thats what she said
  3. Is there a thread where Hubbers can rate an LBS according the their experience? From such a (subjective) rating system hopefully fewer guys will go to shops like NW and will support highly rated LBSs more.
  4. IMO there's a way to do business and there's a way not to. In a highly competitive market segment, LBSs have to rely heavily on relationships with their clients for continued support. This example falls into the 'the way NOT to do business' and 'sure way to lose your customers' area. I'm sorry to hear Cyclosport. Why didnt he come to you?
  5. Some more links on the topic: http://au.news.yahoo.com/queensland/a/-/latest/11913296/power-balance-forced-into-bankruptcy/ http://gizmodo.com/5861816/powerbalance-scam-forces-company-into-bankrupcy
  6. Agreed. Australia actually sued the guys for false advertising. Quite a racket. Can't believe people fall for this rubbish. There are still dudes here in CT that swears by them. Check this out: http://gizmodo.com/5723577/powerbalance-admits-their-wristbands-are-a-scam
  7. Is everybody using shallow drops? It's only us newbies on standards? haha.
  8. Got it thanks! What measurements are you riding 42, 44? I have a 42, but it feels a bit short.
  9. Collections are still happening with the 2014 curveball. Awesome
  10. Well done guys! This is incredible.
  11. It seems the shallow is better for control and comfort then. What (if I may venture further) is a short and long reach?
  12. What do you roadies prefer, shallow or standard drops? I currently have a FSA bar with a standard drop but am considering upgrading to a bar with a shallow.
  13. Contact Eloff at Cyclosports in Kuilsriver. He has some nice bikes there, new and second hand.
  14. After my two week ban (doc, wife and mother's orders) I got back in the saddle. Slow ride between Houtbay and the Waterfront. What a joy! Felt some jitters, and sluggish t first but enjoyed it thoroughly!
  15. Where can I find Johnsons?
  16. I also burned myself with DHL. I will never use them again
  17. yep! they should cover them. no question.
  18. Cycling is truly an amazing and diverse sport and the cycling community even more weird and wonderful! Kudos to everyone on a bike, knobbly or slick, who brave taxis, bad weather, idiot drivers and bad roads to do what we all love!
  19. It feels like eating icecream with a fork...????
  20. At least you have evidence to prove where you have been. Thanks for the comments. It's for me, as a novice, weird to count more knobblies than slicks on the road. This is not the first time either. (Take a sunday drive between Houtbaai and Campsbay). I understand the resistance factor for training. But, not so much the "I enjoy knobblies on tarmac more than slicks". I prefer to use my racer for roads and mtb for trails. It just makes more sense ito tyre prices and sheer riding pleasure. I ride from Bellville to the Botlary hills on my mtb, and it aint fun until I get off road. Where as riding the racer on the road is fantastic. It seems, I am the only one then....
  21. I dare the following - Driving from Klipheuwel to Durbanville this morning I counted 8 cyclist riding on the tar road. The ration between mountain bikes (with knobblies) and any form of tar road equipped bicycle is 8:0. Can any dirtrider please explain to me what they are trying to do? Its like the bleddy valies driving SUV's. What's the purpose of owning a mountain bike - (not cheapies. The one dude had an S-Works (black and red)) if you gonna dress in lycra and waste the bike on tar?
  22. Get well soon!
  23. Yip, First Accent gear is not too expensive. You should be able to get bib and shirt for just under 1K. Mountainbike shoes R600-R700 for a good entry level pair. I have a pair of Olympics and work beautifully both mtb and road. And a good (entry) Specialized helmet and gloves will bring you under R2.5k. as a start..... not bad hey! Leaving R700 for spares and extras...
  24. Lets say they are not in the R400-R1000 entry helmet range..... Best to make a turn at one of the above mentioned places and check them out to decide whether they worth the price tag. Put it this way. If I had the cash for a kask, I would have one.
