  1. I got the Breville Barista Express. Picked it up for R3000 bargain. Its the complete kit for a home coffee bar. Grinder, portafilla, 'stomper'. Beautiful finish and great coffee.
  2. The Complete Cyclist in Hout Bay sells them. On your right after the Engen Garage.
  3. A confession of trial and error. The jungle bar (dark chocolate) works nicely. The black cat bar made phlegm. But the worst is a boiled egg.... 10 points for creativity! The yoke got stuck in my throat and took almost all my water and a whole bunch of energy coughing to get rid of it. Word to the foolish - don't take boiled eggs on a ride.
  4. Getting into cycling, I slipstreamed alot. Many times I couldnt introduce myself due to the wheezing, coughing and lungs being sucked through my nostrils. Later I learned the art of speaking while dying.
  5. yeah. I like specialized. good quality products. with the crash warrantee I got my new one today.
  6. Leaving behind lots of skin.
  7. Thanks to the collective wisdom of the Hubbers and the incredible service of the Complete Cyclist in Houtbay, I received my new Specialized helmet today! Awesome stuff.
  8. This is nogal a good idea for a new discussion thread. To get guys' views on helmets. Are they worth the cost, or is cheap ones just as good?
  9. Not so sure. I think there is much that goes into the development of a helmet (weight, aerodynamics, strenght, impact absorbtion etc).. I had a Pro bike R200 helmet before my Specialized. I doubt that cheapy could have handled the impact. Its made from a two piece mold stuck together where as the foam on the Specialized is 1piece and far better compacted to absorb impacts througout the lid. I for one would say, buy the best helmet you can afford. Don't do cheap. There's much at stake. I agree on the import duty though!
  10. Thats what's family is for!
  11. Jou ge-PM Baie dankie. Dit gaan awesome wees.
  12. Yep. Pieter het dit vir my gegee toe ek net begin trap het. En ek moet sê, daai was my favorite gewees die agterkant is effe gaar nou.
  13. It is quite. The dizzy spells and super stiff shoulder and neck is the worst though. The facial damage is about as painful as the pic shows.... But its manageble. Thanks

  16. I havent had a black eye since my schooldays! Haha
  17. Fine, here goes. Not pretty though
  18. Having never needed one, I didnt know. Now I do and I am hugely greatful. It again pays to get a proper and quality helmet.
  19. Between Klapmuts and Wellington, WC. It was part if the road surface. There was a couple of blodges of concrete there. This one was portruding about 3-4cm's which is dangerous enough for a roadbike (especially if you had only one hand on the handlebars and you didnt see it).
  20. Update: went to doc today for a checkup. Got a week's holiday and a stern talk about keeping away from contact sports for a few weeks, but otherwise I'm okay. Now to heal up and get riding again. Thanks for the support guys! See you on the road.
  21. Yep. I remember reading a thread once on the Hub, before the hub's crash (even the hub had to crash once ), about gloves or no gloves. From experience I can say always glove, even if they are a bit uncomfortable at times. My gloves are completely knackered, but my hands are fine (only one scuff mark from where the glove was ripped away).
  22. They good guys and riders and will still learn the tricks of the trade. Its maar one of those things hey. It happens.
  23. Ek het gehoor. Shame ja. Stuur maar groete daar. Hopelik sal ek oor so twee weke weer op die fiets wees. Moet eers fiets, gear en lyf repair.
  24. Haha, dankie e Haha maak so. Lizelle het lekker vir my gelag!
