  1. Definitely the wrong forum but... I am wanting to get a MTB this year. Being a roadie only until now makes choosing a bike quite interesting. Forgive my MTB ignorance but what is the difference between the Trance, the Anthem and the Scott Spark, (other than the names of course)? At this stage I think I want a pretty all-round bike but I am quite confused. I don't understand the differences at to Trail, XC, Enduro. I thought it was all just mountain biking - obviously its not that simple!
  2. Vertical stripes are supposed to make people look thinner aren't they? Maybe the team bosses thought they looked fat? who knows...
  3. Awesome bike! I had a black one from 1988 or so. It was branded Peugeot though... It was part of an involuntary re-distribution of my goods unfortunately!
  4. I think you are correct. Believe it or not I have a Hansom tandem that dates back to the 1980's!
  5. Zini was my first "proper" road bike. They were produced for Deale & Huth when it was owned by Basil Cohen. There is a thread on one of the forums with much of the history of Deale & Huth and Basil Cohen - He unfortunately passed away. He was also involved in the Alpina brand. Remember those?
  6. The bike!
  7. From the thingy they dump them out in to count. I guess from the spatula thingy as well.
  8. Maybe the commentator was also a pharmacist in SA?
  9. Amazing have Daryl back in the saddle - racing.
  10. Will do my best to remember!
  11. I felt that I should post a RAVE for adriandup who transported a bike from Cape Town to Joburg for me totally FREE! The bike in question is a Somec (Columbus SLX steel) that my Dad bought at Mike's Deale & Huth in around 1989. My Dad died in 2012 and the bike (for a strange technical reason) went to live with my sister in Cape Town and has gathered dust and rust since then. I am really pleased to have it with me and will now start the delicate task of restoring it to its former glory. adriandup, to you my friend! I will look for AquaBella spring water from now on and hope that many other Hubbers follow suite!
  12. Very cool advert.
  13. +1!!

  15. Great call on the result!

    RIP Basil Cohen

I bought my first "serious" road bike from him at Deale & Huth. A steel Zini! (remember those) Also upgraded through several bikes and bought my first track bike there! At the time I thought there were no other bike shops! RIP Basil - you are a legend!
  17. What happened?
  18. Ha ha - If I had the bucks to buy a wattbike I would spend it on a MTB which I don't yet have! That said I tend to be a bit anal about measurement and improving on a base over time. I'm sure it helps performance but I also like to see a trend in the right direction I suppose.
  19. Ja, the 510 is quite lekker but (off topic) it has the occasional brain fart and stops working. It then needs a reset which is a bit of a pain. I like it though because it has a "live track" function when paired with a phone. This enables my wife to know exactly where I am just in case...
  20. Cadence is a very important training and performance metric!
  21. It also has the ability to "Auto Calibrate" the wheel circumference which is the easy way out that I took. I to a fair amount of IDT so (even though it is fairly theoretical) I like to measure speed/Distance as well as Power and Cadence when doing trainer sessions.
  22. Why do you ask? What symptoms are you experiencing? It can be that you are just not fuelling correctly...
  23. 'Dale - Thanks for the constant stream of updates and information on the Giro. Was great and much appreciated!
