well that was most definitely one of the best races i have ever done. organisation was perfect, massive paddling pools at the finish, fruit in abundance and brilliant riding. my only complaint would be the merino monster climb. that was just effing bloody awful!!! I don't really know who to thank as there were so many people involved but thank you to dryland, all the land owners, farmers, route planners, caterers, fellow riders for support, commentary paul for reminding me constantly how **** the weather will be when i go home and all the people along the route who cheered for us. i will miss south africa like you have no idea!
  3. I'm using safari but i can download chrome i guess.. seems a bit ridiculous just for an entry! tnx
  4. anyone else having no luck with the entrie website? just keeps saying my session has timed out even though I've just entered my passport number
  5. real shame not more people entered this race. i understand the problem with the density of stage races in feb but you missed out! i enjoyed the first day the most i think as it was the longest, the other days were great but maybe a bit too much free time in the afternoon! lessons for next year (if i wasnt going to be back in england) -definitely hire a bakki or 4wd, 46km of gravel in a crappy car is grim my only not positive thing (as its not a complaint) is the veggi food on the menu didnt happen though i suspect this was down to the low entries. was looking forward to it. amazing riding out there and the stars at night were incredible. some of the technical stuff was insane.. so chuffed to have ridden any of it really!
  6. i cant open the results. the mtb drop down menu doesn't do anything.. who won the womens race?
  7. so who's erik riding with now he's been dumped for another woman?
  8. its funny really.. i was recommended ralphs for my first ever mountain bike. punctured as i crossed the line in my first race which paved the way for the tyres futures. punctured every schwalbe tyre I've had, found them absolute pants and would never buy them.
  9. i used the xking front/race king rear combination on my 26in bike for epic last year and I'm using the same combination in 29er now. i love race kings, i think they are fabulous.
  10. try garmin connect. its a bit fiddly to search for routes but if you go to the explore tab and select activities, you can search in any area for any kind of activity/distance/time etc. you can also take routes off strava but i think you have to be a premium member. also http://www.endomondo.com/
  11. any suggestions as to what to do with the afternoons?
  12. i've had lots of pairs of shoes.. I've had specialized sport, pro and s-works. theres no doubting they are good shoes but half size availability is bad/impossible so they've always been a bit small for me. sidi - even their top end shoes are heavy but if you find the right size then they are good i currently use 2 pairs of bontrager shoes. one carbon sole and one carbon composite which is a bit more flexy.
  13. I emailed them saying I was here til may and wanted to get some help for epic and beyond and they didn't even reply..
  14. everyone can tell you what shoes they wear but that is going to be what works for them.. you need to buy the shoes that fit you best regardless of what works for anyone else..
  15. thanks for all the suggestions. must point out that I'm not looking for someone, i think i have someone but my post was to find out what the going rate is normally for drivers.
  16. thanks for your offer had someone from england lined up but he's got points on his license so won't work
  17. exactly! thats why i haven't posted on here looking for someone.. (no offence to anyone)
  18. thanks, will do.
  19. we have mechanic/massage already paid for. the driver has to be over 25 so young mechanic won't do unfortunately. its such a bummer, 2 supporters packages paid for too. was really looking forward to the whole thing with the people that were coming but nothing we can do about it.
  20. dont quote me but pretty sure its a no go after sunset? or maybe i read something about riding after the gates close with permission. il be there tomorrow morning so if no one replies with a def answer il find out for you.
  21. i didnt really want to post on the forum for a driver as its a huge risk taking someone who i don't know at all and trusting them with the motorhome. I'm sure it'd be fine but just too big of a risk. we have massage already paid for.. this driver thing is a real sudden last minute problem.
  22. Our supporters have had to pull out so I'm trying to find someone to drive our motorhome for epic. think I've got someone but need to find out what the going rate is for driving? has anyone done that before or used someone to do it? thanks
  23. that course was insane, worse still its apparently not even that technical by sa standards. you'd have a riot on your hands if you put a course like that up in england...
  24. 9 in 10 days in nov...
