  1. Technically, you didn't say next year will be your first time doing it, friend..... ????
  2. Also throws his helmet in the dishwasher.....
  3. 1000 posts to be taken seriously on the classifieds..... No amount of posts is enough to be taken seriously here. Unless you've done the epic. In which case you're obviously already an unbelievably kief legend and your opinion is right on any topic. So have you done it???
  4. 8 posts and already in a beef ..... You're gonna fit in great ????
  5. Was about to say the same. But the course is twice as long. Not sure who that suits, but it's hard to bet against Gana.
  6. Yes and no (Well technically lactic acid)
  7. When you say that they all work together, do you mean same oil and fittings, or same lever throw and actuation etc. I would assume that it's not the same, and that the same lever throw would cause different pressure in the hoses, and therefore different travel on the pistons?
  8. Guessing you're still loving this guy?
  9. Can also remove the drip tray. I think changing to a bottomless portafilter will also add some clearance. But it would be nice if it wasn't necessary out of the box.
  10. https://www.onedayonly.co.za/products/new-classic-pro-home-coffee-machine Did some reading... Seems the maximum cup height is quite low (7cm). I think that's a deal breaker for me, but it's a decent price for the machine if anyone is interested in one.
  11. Has anyone managed to pair their tickr X or tickr 2X as a cadence pod with a Edge 530? I always did this with my edge 130, and can see cadence on my watch from the tickr 2X, but since I upgraded my 130 to a 530, I can't pair it as a cadence pod. Has anyone got this to work? I'm trying to figure out if I have a faulty edge unit, or if this isn't possible for some reason. (In case you weren't aware, a wahoo tickr x or 2x measures cadence and is surprisingly accurate https://www.dcrainmaker.com/2020/05/wahoos-new-2020-tickr-tickr-x-in-depth-review.html)
  12. I'd love to see the effect on fuel economy if you have a bike on the front. I assume it would be significant.
  13. I dunno, but I now dislike some dude that I've never met ????‍♂️ Seriously though.... who is this Sean guy? And why is anyone giving him any attention? I'm not on any of social media platforms, so it completely boggles my mind how some characters have gained some kind of notoriety. But if he blocked Mr Wakefield, he must be a grade A chop.
  14. 100% agree... Partial road closure can be flippen dangerous. If we're honest though, most non-cyclists only know like 3 races - The Argust, The 94 point 7, and the epic. So if someone is trying to make conversation with a cyclist, they'll ask if you've done those 3. Stands to reason then that guys use those 3 to "display themselves". I mean yesterday someone asked me how I find out about all the different races that go on, and I couldn't really answer the guy. I kind of just know about them because I know people that have done them or heard guys talking about them (or saw every second guy on a mtb wearing a certain jacket). But if you're not in that loop, you'll only know about the super public events.
  15. What the hell were you doing at a running race?????? Did you lose your bike???? ???? ???? But I get you. I don't really see myself as a serious cyclist because I don't take races super seriously and don't have a strict training plan and will gladly miss a training ride if there's something better going on.... But to the average joe, someone that rides around 3 times a week is borderline pro.
  16. @Rolf Hansen, how did it go? This is by far the best Trailseeker I've done, probably borderline one of the best races I've done. Such a lekker route... Technical climbs, fast single track, challenging descents.... Just an awesome ride. And as ever, the Trailseeker folks really do a good job of all the organization stuff. This is definitely a race I'll try and do every year going forward. @Trashy, in the ultimate cosmic justice after all the crap I've spoken about how superior my bike is for having 2 bottle cages, I flippen forgot to put anything in either of those cages when I started. ????‍♂️Epic fail (yes... that is a pun). Luckily, I realized it after about 5 minutes, and then headed back to the start to get the bottles from my car and it only cost me around 15 minutes, but I had a good chuckle at the irony.
  17. Good luck for tomorrow boys and girls. Remember your camelbaks.... ???? ( @Trashy - just trying to make you proud)
  18. Seems the overlords have decided that wanted ads are no longer acceptable There use to be an option to select between "for sale" and "wanted" when you say "create ad", but not anymore apparently. Just make a normal ad and start the title with "WANTED: ", and then write down your specs and price etc, and maybe write a description of what kind of thing you might want (and maybe make line 1 of the description "WANTED") For example: https://bikehub.co.za/classifieds/item/dropper-seat-posts/497897/wanted-272mm-dropper-post
  19. Not to drag this out more, but the big factor in the R&D discussion that hasn't been mentioned (I don't think) is that cutting edge R&D is craaaaaaazy expensive. Like stupid expensive. Like a gold plated S-Works being sold by a 1 poster on the classifieds expensive.... For every finished product we see, they've made loads and loads of prototypes, failed 100s of experiments and spent 1000s of engineering hours. And typically the R&D engineers at an F1 team or wherever will be among the top experts in their field globally, so will be getting paid top dollar for those hours. And someone has to pay for those development costs, someone has to fund the failed attempts to improve each component - none of which have any return on investment. The ROI calculation on Mercedes developing the technology for a fancy new super efficient engine is never ever going to balance if they want to recoup those costs by putting them in the new C class and waiting for enough cars to sell. They'd have to triple or quadruple the price of every car. So instead they fund their R&D through motorsport with sponsor money and by selling a "team" or a driver to fans rather than an engine to consumers. Anyway, my 2c. I don't watch any racing other than bike racing and don't follow any of these things, but I'm so grateful that F1 exists, delusional billionaires have aimless space races, Samsung and iPhone have crazed fanboys that will pay stupid prices for a new phone every time it launches even though they have a perfect phone in their pocket, etc etc etc. Because of all of these those wonderful loons, I have a better car, a better phone, and most importantly - a better bike. A super over priced bike race in the Cape benefits me nothing though. I'm not sure if there's any trickle down technology from the Epic to the local Trailseeker.
  20. Looking mint! ????
  21. So basically the epic is useful as a war. That's all I just heard
  22. One of these is not like the other...... Not because of the small price difference between a grinder and yacht, but because R7k for a grinder isn't even a high end one https://capecoffeebeans.co.za/collections/coffee-grinders. If you're gonna insult coffee lovers, at least get your facts straight ????
  23. Note to self.... Get a survival blanket ????
  24. I see the appeal as a base layer cos I believe it has a great warmth to weight ratio (not sure though), but after that I'm not sure what the hype is about. Has anyone compared it to a proper cycling base layer though (like something from Assos)? I can fully understand that merino is better than cotton for technical wear. Cotton is rubbish for anything that involves sweating or getting wet cos the pockets in the fabric fill up with water - 100% agree. But if it's just a casual T-Shirt for R1000, then I guess those aren't important factors, and when you could have 5 normal T-Shirts, the fact that it doesn't pong after three days is kind of negated by the fact that you could just buy 5 different shirts for the same price and wear them for 5 days with zero pong. So I don't understand the appeal of merino for casual wear (Maybe for super lightweight travelling it's a win to just have 1 shirt with you and wear it everyday) As a substitute for normal quick dry running shirts, I'm not sure either. Would you go for a jog in a merino shirt rather than a quick dry shirt? Why? Probably gonna wash it after each run, so the non-smelliness isn't a factor. And it's 5 times more expensive? I'm definitely in the market for a merino base layer top and bottom though, mostly for hiking. I always figured that if I see anything from Ice Breaker on sale, I'd pull the trigger immediately (Was looking at these shirts for reference: https://coremerino.com/merino-wool/polo-shirt-bundle-men/ , https://coremerino.com/merino-wool/short-sleeve-crew-t-shirt-men/)
