I have driven my 'Patrol' vehicle as support/emergency vehicle in quite a few races and would like to comment; - Firstly, cyclists need to learn how to ride/race especially in races that don't have full road closure. They don't keep left & pass right especially the slower guys and the faster guys pass on the rhs of the road. Dangerous stuff!! - Family/Spouse/Girlfriend/Boyfriend supporters really cause chaos and don't respect the other road users (bicycles & motor-vehicles) and should at least know the basics when riding support. They stop anywhere, drive like lunatics and are generally very unsafe!! There should be general safety supporter guidelines included in all race packs!!

Does that new version 5.5 come with a sticker that reads. ' intel inside, idiot bum outside!!'

I have just received an e-mail on my Sign-Up account by an irrate gentleman complaining about two cyclists going thru a Red traffic light in front of him on Gordon Road, West Rand, this morning. Please guys, if we are to be respected by our fellow road users then we have to respect & obey the rules of the road. What I can't understand is that if they were on a training ride, how much time would they have saved by going thru the robot. On average, a traffic signal changes every 20 seconds (except your large intersections which is 30-35 seconds). These will be the first to cry foul when a motorist knocks them off the bike. REALLY STUPID!!!

Hi Guys!! With this new Safety forum, I would like to post some advice! (Use it, don't use it. The choice is yours! Always wear bright clothes and if possible, were a Safety Vest (car guard bibs) Always use a red flashing light especially during your morning ride or commute. Use this red flasing light even during the day. You will be surprised as to the motorists reaction to this by giving you extra space on the road. Use a flashing front light (white) throughout the day. How many times has a motorist turned in front you and claimed that he has not seen you!! Do not ride in the gutter but at least a metre from it. Respect other road users and refrain (I know it is difficult) from using the middle finger or French words when one of these motorists make a 'mistake'. Remember, rather be an Un-cool alive cyclist than a dead Cool one. Road Safety begins with you!!!! Be Safe out there!!!

Lido Loop - TRUCKS, TRUCKS and more TRUCKS!! Do not ride by yourself or in groups less than four!!! Watch out for thugs by the 'trees' and before the bridge after the steps!!
