  1. new chain on a old cassette wont work if the cassette is chowed up. I found some 9 speed 11tooth cogs today, buy the guys say they where ordered a while back so not sure if they're still available or in ten speed, best would be to get your shop to contact suppliers. Or put your new chain and cassette on. When you set B tension get that jocky wheel right up on the granny gear, make sure it dosn't mess up the shift at the top tho You could also just ask the guys at a shop for some old cogs, that are still resonabley unworn.
  2. shot, good to know, only one frame to do so should be good, BB needs it badly tho so gotta be done
  3. http://vimeo.com/72753483 When you can whip your AM rig. Oh yea Dudes have the last spot so dialed!! is amazing
  4. Has anyone ever faced a Titanium frame, are there any dificulties compared to steel or alloy??
  5. All good stuff so go for it
  6. All good stuff so go for it
  7. If you use a longer nipple with the correct lenght spokes it essentialy shortens the spoke??? shorter spoke stronger wheel. Straight gauge is like R5 less a spoke at retail
  8. 90%...depends on your chain
  9. You can buy them seperatley for changing between 11 and 12, but yea, check your deraileur setup, a newer cog on a stretched chain will not work 90% of the time
  10. Use longer 16mm brass nipples, DT straight gauge spokes, they'll be cheapest good quality to buy, the nipple will be a bit more than the shorter but will make a stronger wheel and brass means the wheels will be easy to maintain Use http://www.prowheelbuilder.com/spokelengthcalculator/ Works well as you can put in any rim or hub even if it's not listed.
  11. I'm still on a Kona Shred DJ, never ridden a proper trials bike, all the above stated tho, prepare to ride you're ass off its hard work but so fun. Pictures of Echo if you get it!!
  12. Thats a local site btw. Postage only
  13. xt or xtr hubs(for super solid) or Shimano CX75 Hubs(Ultegra CX disk) on open pros or tandems rims, 32 to 36 hole 700c is pretty much 28 inches so 29' should be good unless there is a super tight tolerance between the wheel and seat tube. 19c to 21c rims should be ideal for 35c tires. Bigger the tire, bigger the rim. If the rim is to narrow or wide, handling and safety are compromised Kenda make some rad 35c tires. the kwest is cheap heavy and close to indestructible. would definitely consider getting a set built for your purpose tho. If you have access to a good wrench it helps. And a custom set that is well built makes for a good ride and lets you match everything nicely
  14. http://dialdbikes.co.za/bikes/street-trials/ or build http://dialdbikes.co.za/dmr-898-frame.html but i don't know of anything trials specific, such a small market
  15. Online and import. Or get a dirt jump/ street frame. And then build. You'll find trials ready parts easily
  16. Remedy Remedy Remedy Remedy!!!!!! you'll get slightly less bang for your buck in terms of components, that said the shimano builds are fraking solid, and you'll have one of the best handling bikes around. Lifetime warranty on the frame, five years on the rear triangle, one year on Bars Stem Saddle Wheels Seatpost, anything bontrager basically, Would buy 5 of them right now if i could. If you can Demo ride the above bikes do it, But REMEDY!!! will win They're such easy bikes to ride but put a pro on one and it'l be the fastest in the park. Rear suspension is so clever, Just keep it serviced The trance is well priced and the Epic is a super chillaxed ride. Would consider the Epic after the remedy. Like the specialized but haven't had to much time on one, they will definitely be a good ride tho. Check out KTM also, love my Ultra Sport HT. But as you might have noticed i still think REMEDY!!
  17. There are still so many square taper bikes tho, I've got 2. They're talking bull, if a shop is really dedicated to servicing all bikes they should have a few. You could also buy a spare BB and just use the bolts that come with it, Shimano's come with the Plastic washers on them. Usually around R250, But if your build is done and on budget keep hunting
  18. So i'm keen on getting a new MTB AM hardtail frame but it comes with a fully integrated headset, I've seen road bike bearings flopping around the frame, But usually caused by exterior damage. Do the MTB integrated frames LAST?? If they are maintained correctly and what not.
  19. Getting super big frames warrantied is also a mission, they usually wont be kept locally, And if GT international sells all their frames and hasn't started the next years production you're poked. So be happy you got something. If you're unhappy about it tho, which you should be if you get a old frame that proceeded to break, bitching about it here wont help, Phone somebody at OMNICO. They're only one of the biggest importers in SA so ask nicely and they will help. New Road frames should always come with a fork, unless its crazy custom stuff.
  20. most bike shops should keep a jar of them.
  21. If its the right sizes(exactly), Run it. Shimano rotors have the best feel by far tho. Just watch the Pad and disk compatibility, some disks are resin only.
  22. Avids are actually very good breaks but they need SOOOOO much maintenance to keep them good. On top of that, they are tricky to work with, and the cheaper versions arn't worth considering. Shimanos are very good all round, definitly rate them best. If you can afford them, and it says SLX, XT, XTR, ZEE, SAINT. You're winning Bottom of the range brakes, Tektro are pretty dam good. Also Clarks but maintenance is iffy.
  23. Most brakes you can swap round with out bleeding, undo hose, fluid wont leak unless you pump them or drop the hose on the floor, swap them. I run moto style, always will, right hand endo, left hand wheelies. Its much easier to work on bike with right hand rear tho, you can stop the wheel without having to reach over the bike, and then there's the mirrors in traffic, very good point.
  24. Email?? Otherwise Contact Emotion Cycling, and if they say they don't have the hanger, be like, Phone Switzerland for me
  25. Bunny hopping is very useful to learn Drafting (within reason) is fun and useful, but old farmers in Landies will shout at you There's no other form of transportation that will leave a bigger smile on your face at point B Rain isn't so bad (without a headwind at least) Thanking the few drivers that are polite will get you along way Rear view mirrors are expendable Pedal strike in moving traffic will make you wet yourself Ride a mountain bike cause there are ramps everywhere (Durban is win) Slime is amazing Lifes good on a bike
