  1. License plate number (of the perpetrator) would helps a lot! Not giving you any ideas or anything like that, but odds are high that he "might" be spotted in the near-by shopping mall in the weekend...
  2. In the past I've relied on "some" of the Jozi bike shops for services, but they tend to be very dishonest on what they've done during the services. Now I've gone to the route of doing the services myself (with the help of youtube....), works out cheaper and better this way.
  3. the race will be even tougher if the event run on the reverse directions! (the Krugersdrop classic was exactly just that )
  4. As their vehicle detection systems in each gantries uses IR sensors to check the vehicle height (and classify the vehicle type accordingly) If one uses a roof-rack bike-carrier, would the scam-ral gantries billed such passenger vehicle with the same rate as a truck?
  5. Short answer, no. just for a note, there's only a handful of road-bikes on show in this event.....
  6. Let's hope that next year will have more exhibitors to showcase their products & services. Especially the bike-importers... Also it was good to meet Matt in person!
  7. One of these days, someone will gonna stuff this thing into a rugby ball and use it on a tri-nations match.....
  8. got a photo of that "music player" perhaps?
  9. on my reflection to this race earlier on today: The good side: chirpy (in a friendly manner) water point just before the Vrekpoort, armed with sun-screen to help us out... (and not afraid to rub our legs!) road markings on potholes, (but if you're riding in a group, someone will inevitably got hit by one...) good marshaling. (in general) The not-so-good side: Entry cost between the 80Km and the 110Km race (R 10 difference!) only water and water diluted powerade are available in the water-point, even for the 2 water-points after Vrekpoort.... all the finisher's medals are the same... (in a way I can brag about doing 110Km while I've only done 80Km , so it's not a bad thing) Very little distance marker on the side of the road (the only one that I've managed to spotted was the 10Km mark before the finishing line) Finishing line in the most obscure location. One of the bike-medic had chosen to chat with a pony-tail female cyclist than attend my call for assistance... (that alone was an eye-opener...) That's my take on today's race. hopefully the organizer can take them under considerations next year to improve the race...
  10. That's one way of entering the Argus now (for those that has missed out and are fortunate enough to have a foreign passport)
  11. try to setup a SMS notifications when any payment is being made by the credit card, that's one way to keep track of your account's activities. quite a possibility that a sniffing script was in the client's PC, as Max has point out the user should also keep his/her PC in check for these kind of things (before raising security concern to the event-entry management site)
  12. In my case I'd joined the "virtual" queue since 11:30 & gets my registration done within 3 minutes.
  13. I was in a similar situations as you've experienced last month. (and sadly, i'd to written-off my bike) you'll need to get all the details of the other party (ID number, driver licence number, vehicle licence plate and registration number that's on the disc, home address and contact number), open a case in the police stations ASAP, and get yourself checked up by a physician (GP for the physical damage that you've sustained) if your bike is not insured, the best that you can do is to get quote of the damage of the bike and send it to the driver that crashed into you.
  14. The best route is to pay your local "reputable" bike shop a visit, let the staff (of the bike shops) do the measurement for you and see what bikes they've offered...
  15. check on the FB group for details, but I'm sure the event will happen this coming Friday. https://www.facebook.com/events/386793858099059/
  16. yip, same thing has happened when I tried to submit my order....
  17. The GT Zaskar and the Silverback Vida 2 have very closely matched specs. and either of the 2 will work Another local alternative is the Monsen AL329 Race specs. (the rims and the wheel is better than the GT & Vida2) and you can get 1 from R10K to R11K
  18. probably if one wants to cycle against the traffic flow, do it on a MTB and on the sidewalk only....
