  1. This month's jersey colour is bright yellow (made one looks like a TDF GC winner from a distance), but comes with a rather steep price-tag....
  2. 2008 SCR1 specs are on the Giant website... Based on your listed specs, the main price difference on the OCR bike (in relations to the SCR) are from the crank-set and the STI shifters. (however, you'll have to do some research to check the finer specs on them, IMO old parts might needs to be replaced at some point)
  3. Loads of people do road-race on MTB with slick tyres, could that be an option?
  4. Most likely you'll need to get your "build-up" bike to do a bike-fitting session, once it's checked out by your mechanics at the LBS. bike-fitter would advise you on further upgrade of your bike (i,e: handle-bar, saddle, and crank-arm if it's too long for your specific physique) read the article written by cyclefit in the forum on the above topics to get some ideas.
  5. Thanks for your response Spinnekop, they (the wahoo dealer above) had eventually get back to me with a response. buycycle didn't have the item that I would wants to obtain online, and somehow through my search I'd located the above dealer instead.
  6. Has anyone have any experience on purchasing goods from this store recently? http://wahoofitness.co.za/ review & comments will be appreciated (because I'm thinking of getting some goodies from them, mailed them and so far there's no response)
  7. http://photos1.blogger.com/blogger/7141/4025/400/wheel%20sucking%20pig%20web%20site.jpg Do this from the start till the last 500m to the finish, is always a option
  8. playing around the online calculator, any decrease in weight (per kg) will only increase your travel time by 0.5 to 0.7km/h (and an improvement of finishing time of only half a minutes) bottom-line, if one wants more speed, work on their FTP first.
  9. The event today was excellent; considering that it's a free event that has marshals (in the form of JMPD) on the route, adequate water-points and good vibe.
  10. Personal preferences on Strava, one can choose to hide a particular activities (within the app or on the website itself) if you don't wants the public to find your secret-training sessions... Quite a cool idea in a mass cycling event (i.e: 94.7) to see whose the smart-kid or hottie in front of you (or behind you should the person had lapped your wheels)
  11. Consider using Paypal perhaps?....
  12. The frame itself looks very similar to Giant Propel....
  13. http://www.conti-tyres.co.uk/conticycle/road_tyres/attack%20force/Resistance%20Fighters.pdf hope this article might helps....
  14. a comfortable bike is better than a "good looking" bike IMO. then again, "good looking" bikes is such a subjective matter.
  15. hence the date at the bottom of the photo, but let's give this matter a rest personally, I could only hope that people (esp. those that make noises on the N14 section) will not complain on this year's route after they've done the race.
  16. Just to make my points.... http://imageshack.com/a/img840/1920/2d7y.jpg
  17. That's last year's elevation profile.....
  18. Lynwood cyclery : http://www.lynnwoodcyclery.co.za/ One of the best services shop in the country, (search for forum post and see for yourself!)
  19. What comes after plan B for me is the Tacx online virtual trainers.
  20. http://www.martinhoff.com/2014/03/gopro-video-from-cape-argus-cycle-tour.html
  21. The shorter route will be the better option IMO. On another note (to the OP), you might want to calculate your average riding speed (60km divide by 4hr ....) to give yourself an estimate on the finishing time for the longer distance race.
  22. +1 on your sentiments towards some of the other "cyclists" behaviors, one can only wonder what they've done to their cycle tour magazine....
  23. Things that I'd learn from yesterday's event: Wind in the Cape is a ***** One can only go as fast as the person that's in front, no matter how courteous you are towards other cyclists, there will always a prick try to push into a non-existing gap between you and the cyclist next to you when you ride up Chappies and Smitswinkel.... Group riders (pack of 3 to 5 people), riding abreast are often very ignorant Most people never looked to their rear before a turn during a downhill / sweeper Next year, definitely a police siren will be mounted on my bike to mind the other "cyclist"....
  24. Don't forget the torque wrench!
  25. IMO, that stretch of road is just pure dangerous... What gets on my nerves today is that, the very same company of truck drivers were driving as close as they can to the shoulder lane (that nearly taken me out of action ), right after they've driving past through that tragic accident scene... On a different note, Thanks once again to the event organizer for today's event!
