  1. Happy Birthday J and well done Eppie! Looking forward to seeing you at Eroica in May.
  2. If you use YouTube, search for Buffs Vintage Bikes and view one or two of his clips for tips in restoring your bike.
  3. Hi Diedrich. This is not a Maestro frame. The brazing quality on your frame is poor when compared to Rod's work. All Rod's frames had RAM and serial number stamped on the BB and in certain instances the degree angle, i.e. 73.
  4. To get the job done properly take it to a specialist. I have no affiliation to Steve or the company but they came recommended to me. http://www.smartcoprojects.co.za/Contact_Us.html
  5. Probably worth between R4,000 to R7,000.
  6. Hi Styvie. There are two larger groups (other regional groups too). The main one is about 250 member strong and is a general group with diverse base of members both local and offshore. The other is about 120 members and is only a buying and selling group, no chit chat and discussions of your dog snoopy. DM with your full name and telephone number and I will assist you join the groups.

  8. Me and you both. I have a Gemini track bike and pursuit TT low pro.
  9. These Battaglin frames were all manufactured with Columbus SLX tubing as far as I know. The frame was chromed and then painted in a process known as cromovelato. The paint looks almost chrome like. The problem with a cromovelato finish is that the paint is easily chipped and cannot be resprayed in South Africa. I have owned a similar frame and have another Pinarello Montello. The Dura Ace STI's are later to the age of the frame (1988/89). In my humble opinion the price for the frame and fork in the condition as this one would be between R4,500 - R5,000. This excludes the components and wheels. The Battaglin is a great frame to ride, enjoy.
  10. A complete Zeus 2001 groupset is very difficult to get. I restored a Razesa a few years back which has older Zeus centre put brakes. Here is a link to some pics on FB https://www.facebook.com/media/set/?set=a.542345669662740&type=3
  11. Getting Campagnolo levers is getting very hard to find and expensive. I would recommend you replace the hoods. Cheaper option. PM to order (I have stock).
  12. Thank you Buff. Apparently Jasper is looking for cheaper hoods. My cost price is R465 and I sell them for R500 a pair ????
  13. Sent you a PM
  14. IMHO I would go for a lazer weld as suggested earlier and then see if the balance is maintained. You can import a new rail but you would then also need to import new rivets to re-attach the leather seat. May be cheaper to buy another saddle. They often come up for sale. Looks like a Professional? I have a couple, great saddles.
  15. I have two Thule racks, the cheap fold up type which stores in a bag. Made to take 4 bikes but I removed one pair of the bike holders. Used on a few road trips and the benefit is you can take it off and store in the boot at your destination. Use pool noodles and bungey cords to secure bikes together. The other is a 4 bike, tilting older unit. Heavy but its lasted well. Can be difficult to mount 4 road bikes but sized up and once again protested with pool noodles you will be ok. Takes 2 or 3 bikes comfortably. Buy 2nd hand. I use a separate chain to lock the bikes to the car's towbar to prevent theft but then don't like to leave the bikes unattended for long, even at pitstop stations, etc. Thule is expensive but quality and longevity have a price.
  16. I still have this red one
  17. It looks like the frame I owned a couple of years ago.
  18. IMG_2.jpg The Moser is lovely. The original dark blue frame looks very familiar.
