  2. Good morning all For those inclined I found this link very useful when trying to date various components. http://vintage-trek.com/component_dates.htm Trust everyone is using the long weekend productively and look forward to you sharing some of you latest retro bikes and kit.
  3. Hope the stem and seatpin aren't seized. Always a pity and lots of effort if it is
  4. Seeing we are discussing Cinelli, please can you guys & girls go through your bottom drawer and see if you have some M71 pedals and cleats for me!
  5. Here is a link to the Cinelli Registry - good luck trying to get your frame registered! http://www.cinelliregistry.org
  6. Eppie, I also say it's 50's. There is a Cinelli register and you can check your serial number to get fairly accurate date. Unfortunately the keeper of the registry doesn't register any more bikes (I have tried to register two). The nickel and chrome plating is shot so I wouldn't leave the frame in that condition. That's too much patina. Also it will just deteriorate further. Nice find. They do weigh a tonne.
  7. I personally like the extra color added to otherwise bland looking bike. I too have a bland Nago and added red gear and brake cables to break the blandness. Would agree with Cippo but I would even say to go tri color bar tape.
  8. Is it a 1inch, 1 1/8 or ahead stem? What length are you looking for, color, brand etc
  9. This is a Colnago appreciation forum, please take the debate for and against saddle bags off line. There are also various other forums dedicated to this subject to keep your post count momentum. Thank you.
  10. Stunning bike, very lucky mate. Enjoy the ride and make sure to give us poor boys a review.
  11. Please show more pics of the RIH. Is it for sale?
  12. Yes, you correct.
  13. Wanted, vgc set of clincher Campagnolo Hyperons. Willing to to pay R4,000-5,000
  14. I may have a Nitto bar and stem for you. Will send you PM later.
  15. Hipsters are welcome. They have great taste in old bikes and know the difference between their Merlo and Cabs! Looking forward to next month.
  16. Hey Cippo thank you for posting the above history. I am certainly greatful for the history lesson and will bookmark this for later reference.
  17. The first Shamal's were 12hole but Campagnolo was forced to increase the spoke count to 16 after the UCI banned the 12hole wheels from competition. If my information is correct the Shamal's were released with Record (often called C Record) and early Chorus/Veloce hubs. The HPW12's have become collectors items. Zonda's and Vento were later models.
  18. That build has come out very well. Certainly doing to turn heads.
  19. Jealous, would love to join you guys
  20. We stay over until Mon am. Nice to have Sun to relax and take in some of the sights of the area (unfortunately most of the wine farms in the area are closed on a Sun!).
  21. The biggest question, Why? So unnecessary and doesn't add any benefit to the drive train except weight.
  22. The organisers must be happy that they have an easy escape route by using the water crisis as an excuse this year!
  23. Basso Gap 73 needs thicker rubber and then it's ready for Eroica! Moser Super Prestige ready although I may change bars to something a bit easier on the missus back.
  24. Basso Gap 73 almost ready for Eroica. Waiting for some thicker rubber.
  25. Nice, still not found my own Tomma! Pls post some more pics
