  1. ......if its not about the bike why don 't we all ride P&P specials? I do think a bike makes a hell of a differance........ nobody is going to run a marathon with slops.......?
  2. Hey, The easiest is to open the trigger body.....slowly..... Alternatively: There is also suppose to be a small white plug on the side of the trigger body - inline with the cable pull. THis plug can be screwed out. Push on the cable itself (first remove the outer housing) and the cable with its endstop should come through that hole. So if the cable can come out this way it should be able to be installed this way as well...... its a bit difficulter as you need to get the cable through a very small hole that can not be seen..... thus I preffer top open the trigger body. Make sure that the cable has been shifted in to the "longest cable position" so that the cable do line up with the cable hole...... Otherwise try the SRAM site for a manual. Cheers!
  3. Modifying your frame in ANY way = NO warranty. This goes for painting and drilling.... JAAAAA I know it will do NO damage to your frame but you will have no warranty and that is it, no ums or Ahs, No warranty. Would like to hear what Borman has to say about painting bicycles.........
  4. Try Cycle Art - I know they do carbon repairs aswell. Ther is also a company called Exclusive Conversions doing alot of carbon work in the auto industry (Porsche and racing cars....) see if you vcan find them for repairs.
  5. ......try the self timer.
  6. ......to throw another stone in the bush .... what is tuffer Downhill or Cross Country?
  7. ..........voetskimmel - not treated for 4 years, or it can be a piece of popcorn that fell behind the couch, was left alone for 2 years and now has sprung legs, arms and a bad attitude!
  8. Hi DH hubers, What influance does the stem length and hight have on a DH bike? I am experimenting but don't feel any differance.....50mm to a 70mm and the stem raised by about 20mm.... Thanks!
  9. I fully agree with Mampara . If I read once more how to get fit in 5 easy steps I will puke ..... and race reviews is NOT that exicting.... Once again I am only part of the market (which has not been cattered for before). So yeap I will keep on spending on UK mags untill we get something similar in SA...... MTB is not only about racing, there should be plennty of adventure and freedom as well..... and not only I am faster than you
  10. ....o yeah almost forgot..... will it be possible to give test bikes a rating, 1-5, or something similar in the next issue?
  11. Hi, I wil try and give some feeedback / input....... keep in mind that diffrent people would like diffrent stuff..... Bought the mag and it was OK (way better than the rest)..... The articles good - but I do not want to "read" the mag over and over... It would be nice if there is more pictures small big medium etc. If I take a UK mag I look at the pictures 1000 times over and over, I drool over the bikes and components. Ask bicycle shops to advertise with PLENTY of pictures as in the UK mags (small little pics with a price etc.) When going throught the mag it very much felt like a "novel" no punn intended it seems a bit "structured". What really work well - for me - was a route that they (UK mag) described lots of pictures and only 2 sentences per picture........ In short - work on your visual inpact so that the mag will be opened once again if it has been read. my 5c....
  12. ........ I am busy claiming from Mutual and Federal for a cracked frame..... will see how it goes and keep you posted......
  13. Hi, I managed to crack the frame of my pride and joy........ lucky for me I have a 5year warranty on the frame......NOPE. Took my bike to the LBS with proof of payment and asked how the warranty works, claiming etc..... Turns out that as I have painted my Giant bicycle (done proffesionaly by Cycle Art) that my warranty is void....... How k@K is that.......... so be warned........before painting your bicycle please check if te warranty is still valid. I am so since painting a frame will do nothing to the welding / structural integrity I think this is a layme ass ecxuse- but guess this is not a battle I will win against GIANT bicycles. So.........
  14. maybe the pool is to wash all the bikes?............ Or unless it is the cover for a huge FURNACE where bikes are melted....... Think they discovered bike HELL !!!!!!!
  15. ....if you drill your rims , is it still covered by warranty? I prefer to stay away from my precious with any power tools
  16. .....dont drill your rims It has been designed with a certain dia hole.... not a bigger one...... Will you drill your frame? If your answer yes - drill your rims. If the answer is Na - don't drill your rims.
  17. OK - so I just subscribed to TREAD for a year....... NEVER saw it before..... Hope the mag is so good that it was sold out before I got to the store the last couple of months
  18. Hey, Any idea why we don't have a proper MTB mag (a local mag)? Yes RIDE and Bicycling and the othe rone is fine....... but it takes me 30min. and then I am throught the mag (yes I have a short attention span). But I look at mags from the UK (MBR, etc.) and envy them.... why can they publlish 3 or 4 mags in the UK totally dedicated to MTB while in SA we can't put out the same "quality" of mag? Whe have the skills, the sunshine and I am sure the market is there? Will it not be nice to see nice adverts from Cajees, Bruce, Fritz etc. in the mag? Local rides covered in 3 or 4 pages, detailed maps etc? Was wondering about this for sometime now........
  19. Think about riding a 4x4 down a trail with NO suspension but a comfy seat....... or a 4x4 with suspension and a less comfy seat......
  20. ........just keep in mind that full suspension bikes aren't made that way soley for comfart..... I think the main idea was to keep your wheels stuck to the ground.... Susspension will eat rocks and roots.......not sure if a suspension seat post will do the same..... also keep rebound and compresion inmind All that said - I am sure that a susspension seat post has it place and intended use.
