Giant Revolt Extremely versatile. Doubles quite nicely as a road bike vs gravel grinder. The frame allows for 700x45c tyres as well. I've got a 2nd wheel set for the days I decide to be a bit of a roadie. I see that Giant now offers a wider range to choose from a (Alu and Carbon) in the 2020 models

Been dabbling with these gravel bikes since early 2015... Got told how it will never take off and its a waste I'm of the view that most Hard tail 29er riders should have probably chosen a Gravel Bike as they aren't exactly MTBing. In the same way may people on a road bike would like to have much fatter tyres and versatility other that a max of 28c So really interesting view point that it doesn't work... But for the non-racer both on MTB & Road, does it really matter what the "norm" is? I've read how eBikes are also frowned upon, but actually so what. Cycling like everything else is a personal choice, and so with the accessories along with it. The more options the merrier As long as we have options

Watch out at Masepumela (spelling) just behind Longbeach Mall, Sunvalley, Fishoek. But buddy got mugged at about 3pm yesterday. Guy confronted him at knife point and took he's cellphone. Loads of pedestrians and vehicles passing at the petrol station. Fortunately unharmed and survived with he's life and bike. Suppose people out there are just so used to this type of thing thus become desensitized to the reality around them. Be vigilant out there!

It really depend what you want to spend Some of the cable versions are really good and as effective as the hydraulic brakes. That said, hydraulic range varies considerably as well

I'm riding the Giant Anyroad 2017, very relaxed geometry. 40c tubeless tyres of the OEM wheels ZTR 29er wheels, where swop between 32c or 28c tyres depending on the intended ride. 50/38 crank, with 11/32 cassette. 10speed. Excellent all round bike Also have the Giant Fastroad.(flat bar). Somewhat similar but different. Both can handle the dirt & give the roadies some horns as well. Giant have a few gravel bikes in reasonable spec Anyroad (aluXX & carbon frames) Fastroad (aluXX & carbon frames) TCX (aluXX frame) Have a look the Comax versions in all 3, just under R30k
