  1. Shouldn't really, its a sealed unit? but then again i didn't pass science at school - was to busy riding my bike (and chasing birds of course)
  2. I've been mtb'ing all my life, but something like that would make me ride on the road. That bike just means business.... Compact triangle is something along the lines of a more upright seat tube to push you over the tri-bars to achieve a more aero body shape or something...Any other thoughts?
  3. never smoke after drinking moonshine
  4. He who laughs last is a ****...so don't stop posting. Love the one liners
  5. Pimped yo Thats like a Nissan 1400 with fet tekkies on!!! Argus on one of those with biltong, beer and dried fruit in the carrier to see you through - now that would be stuff of legend!
  6. That puppy needs a medium / short cage RD... maybe the new saint one?
  7. Welcome to the Shova clan mate, see how it punches above its weight category with regards to the suspension - you can throw Eden at that bike and it just swallows it all up and begs for more. Slightly easier getting it up the hill too.... we must hook up for another convension - maybe Sunday at Delvera, where there are ups and downs?
  8. Yeah the superlight was a carbon monocoque frame if I remember correctly. and they bounce around like a pogo stick. Maybe with newer platform technology they might actually work. Wouldn't mind making one into something obscure, like a fixie or singlespeed. I have seen a fixie Softail (you know the one with the large carbon beam that you sit on - think its related to BMC in someway) and that was pretty interesting
  9. Just another manic monday?
  10. THEM FIGHTEN' WORDS BOY!!!!
  11. Oh my....this company just gets better and better. Now i have to find out how I am going to add them to my collection.... Maybe I should sell somebody?
  12. Right now something alongg the lines of NineInchNails....its one of those days
  13. Hey dudes Werner and I need to meet about a bike that a mate of mine is keen on, Droo give me the kit and I can sort out with Werner if you guys come to some kind of arrangement... *hijack* Werner - keen to meet up for that bike and parts. Will PM/email to organise.

  15. I didn't know that, I suppose one learns something new everyday! Shot Artorius, time to plan a pilgrimage to KZN to ride the trails and check out a honda in the flesh....it'll be worth it!
  16. No way man, those things are too hot. You wouldn't even be able to take it out for a blast at your local without incuring the wrath of those in the know! Still would be a sweet thing to ride. My 2c - recon that at least one was nicked by the competition and stripped to figure how Honda got all their proto stuff to work so well... makes for a bit of an mtb'ers conspiracy theory No one has managed to get the internal gear box to work as successfully as Honda did - clearly the wrong dudes stole the bike...hehehe
  17. Cool thanks, for that. Can the standard man on the street order these parts kits? If so I take it one would go through a LBS...? Can one customise a parts kit from a supplier, like if I am looking for a specific fork, brakes and crankset or something like that?
  18. Wsquared - misunderstanding mate. I was chirping Crow who went and sold a beautiful thing like that.... IF that is your demo bike, then I would love to see what you sell on an everyday occasion? Tell me more about this parts kit thing you have ordered? Whats in it, whats it cost, how does go about ordering one etc (in broad terms of course as I am sure there are 1squillion different options...)
  19. you wanted to sell it...!!! Come now man, pull yourself towards yourself. You ride metal now, not plastic Hasn't it been 2 weeks yet? Where are the pics of the completed bike...
  20. You buy another Morewood? You are teasing us like that!!! Come on boet, post those pics!!!
  21. Hey guys, how about a spin sometime - maybe Delvera? Haven't been there in a while. I hear the Dirtopia crew has done a little work out there. Or maybe we put in a mile or 2 out in Lebanon / Oak Valley / Thandi area...
  22. WW, the 32mm stanchions should definately stand them in good stead! I would be most interested in Magura forks as a new alternative. They receive pretty good reviews and really do strive for to save weight. Maybe DT Swiss at well with there carbon guys - but I have heard they are quite flexy. I haven't heard much about the R1's, mostly they are super light and still as powerful if not more then usual. My K24's have a decent modulation dial on them (the k18's are just straight as is, but with carbon lever blade which feels good and seems to fit a bit better). They are a little finiky to set up but once going they are superb. K24's are trail based brakes, but recieve some of the best reviews across the board from what I have read. There is also a pimped set, Oro Bianco's which Greg Minaar rode for a while on the Honda before the prototype 'The Ones' came out. So that says enough for someone like me for performance... I would guess that Juicy Ultimates are the best fit and forget light weights. If you looking for things purely based on weight you need to look at what Magura offer! They are always in the running for light weight high performance kit. And the exclusivety factor can't be ruled out either...
  23. Hey WW, with regards to brakes I ride formula oro's (have 2 sets, K18 & K24's). From a performance point of view they are amazing, have sublime feel and huge power. They don't fade even when they have been burnt on a DH run. Apparently the R1's are even lighter and have the same power and feel...something to consider? I have a mate who wants to sell an out the box FSA K-Force crankset (takes a standard external bb, might even come with one?). Its Carbon, so in the lightweight stakes. Carbon cranks now-a-days are really super strong and flex free, maybe something more to consider? And I have seen thm last on some of the most mullet riders I know. As for deraillers - seen them last, seen them been turned inside out by a 1inch stick, so its luck of the draw. I think if you are in for light weight products then you know that performance is everything and therefore you service your bike regularly. So with regular service should come longevity. I run fox forks. I have a set of Terralogic 100's and they are great. I also have a pair of Manitou's but find that setting them to be supple enough is a ball ache. Fox are just much easier to service, set up and the performance I find is quite noticable. And servicing a set of Manitou's requires a trip for them to Jozi, but I see that ain't a problem for you. And Omnico for my Fox's are just up the road for me, so pretty much of a muchness I suppose. One thing I have noticed, the more weight is shaved the flexier the fork becomes (maybe the new forks are stiffer using better materials). But a flexi fork just ain't cool... Anyway, my 2c...good luck with the weight saving. PM if you interested in the cranks, otherwise check out: https://www.bikehub.co.za/forum_posts.asp?TID=55567&KW=&PID=841854#841854
  24. CCC, such great idea. I have been toying with the idea as a holiday cruise for a while... Did you log / track your route? Can you forward any information to have a squizz at... Shot
