  1. Like we're not already confussed enough! http://www.bikerumor.com/2012/10/16/waltworks-offering-36er-lightweight-mountain-bike-tire/ I want one!
  2. When is Froome going to attack Wiggins? That will REALLY spice things up this year. Daryl Impey commented last night on SS that "you don't often get the chance to win the tour, he [Froome] should go for the win". I tend to agree... Even though it was always Team Sky's intension to take Wiggins to Paris in yellow, the strongest man should win...
  3. Yep, now official... http://www.dura-ace.com/
  4. Frame alone: $2700
  5. Oh, I want!! http://www.bikeradar.com/mtb/news/article/cervelo-boss-launches-open-mountain-bike-brand-33770/
  6. Only listing my options R5 and R5ca not on the menu...
  7. Come now... Pick one
  8. Hey hubbers, Which bike do you think is cooler? New R3 with BB Right or Thor Hushovd favorite bike, the 2010 S3?
  9. I vote Scott!
  10. You will NOT dare interrupt me AGAIN! Please remove his arm!
  11. I've also used both and it's more of a physiological thing really to have "the better" shock. Both work perfectly well! Firm, smooth and predictable.
  12. One of the hottest frames out there at the mo! Enjoy!
  13. Mine! Good enough for me
  14. Wow man, really hope you find the guy! Kuota should be easily seen anywhere in SA! Good luck!
  15. Hey Quintus, where is Red Hill?
  16. Well, I have seen clips on YouTube and such of frames snapping without warning! Crash, boom, bang kind of thing! But that's mostly on extreme downhill/jump/world-speed-record-attempts kind of stuff. Carbon frames, like all frames will develop some kind of noice or hairline crack before it comes apart. Most people notice it when cleaning/riding their bike. jdvisagie2009-06-01 16:16:47
  17. One more thing I forgot to mention, carbon doesn't corrode or rust, and that in itself makes it an ultra tough material.
  18. Hmmm, this is an interesting one. I've heard rumours/stories of carbon frames going "soft" after a few years, and in my mind that may be true about the early carbon frames. I think that carbon fibre technology has improved alot over the last few years, allowing for better longer lasting frames. And although carbon frames does reduce road buzz, the resin bonding the carbon weaves doesn't have an "elasticity" element to it. Therefore it should never become "soft/stretchy", but would rather break or crack after many years of use. I ride carbon frames for both road and mtb, and my advise would be to ride it until it breaks! Thats what I'm going to do

  20. I'm using the 2008 7000C at the moment. Same frame as the team model made by an Italian company, Dedacciai. They make frames and forks for many other "Known" brands like Cube, Dolan and Ribble. They also make some top end components under Deda branding. The frames (carbon & alloy) are generally well respected overseas, but here in SA guys do tend to frown on them. Mainly because they do tend to crack more then other brands, but partly also because they're common as grass. Complete bike often retails for the same price as "big name" frame only prices. I've only had mine for a while now with no problem sofar, but will have to see what happens. I built it with DA, Ritchey WCS and Easton Orion 2 wheels, so when the time comes I can get a frame maybe a bit more special... Got to go with what fits your pocket. Good value for money, but doesn't come with bragging rights! Having said that, does anyone have a 2009 Raleigh team bike? Road or MTB? Looks like Raleigh moved away from Dedacciai, who makes their frames now? Are they lighter or stonger? Would be nice to get some feedback on those....
  21. I don't mind being the inbetween. Both can send goods and money to me, will then pass on! Nothing to worry about then ! Postage and transfers take around 2 weeks for me...
  22. I haven't read through all the reply's, but have to agree with the original post. Bicycling, and mostly all SA cycling mags a bit lacking when compared with international ones. Now I know, the other international mags have many more contributors, journalists and larger budgets for those much loved pics and articals. But, I'd rather send the R100-150 on one of those and read it from cover to cover for the whole month, then spend R30 on something that lasts 20 minutes tops! I still have some ProCyclings thats a year old, sometimes when I pick them up I still find something I haven't spotted before. jdvisagie2009-04-07 15:42:47

  24. Have a productive day at work! Check out the race tech at this years Flanders. Interesting to see the Cervelo boys changing back to DA 7800. http://www.bikeradar.com/news/article/race-tech-tour-of-flanders-21121 Some really nice pics!
  25. Picked up something about AGE just now. Got to tell a short story real quick! Few years back, while at uni, over December I was putting in a big base period, 15-24 hours a week. I was following a training program and everything was going great. We then went on a 3 week holiday to Zim, and I quickly found the local racing crowd and joined them for their weekly training rides. By that time, I was about half way into the 12 week base period, and I felt fit and good! On one of our rides, there was two guys setting the pace up front. One was a young guy, I think the Zim u/23 champ and the other a 76 year old bloke! I was no pro, but I have won some smaller races in NW and KZN, so I was no beginner either. That 76 year old guy was pushing the BIG blade all the way! I often glanced over and saw he was still making small talk while in the big blade with me in my climbing gears a bit short of breath! At one stage towards the end of the "race", I pulled up next to him and said: "I hope you don't take this the wrong way, but you're bloody strong for a man your age!" His reply: "I know!" So, moral of the story, don't think the oldies is a walk over! When you over take one of them on a hill, make sure you keep something in the tank incase he decides to hook on the back and then through a late attack up the climb! jdvisagie2009-04-03 06:14:25
