  1. Which thule bike carrier system did you have? I personally have tried both the Proride and Freeride and can't see the point of spending the extra 1k for the Proride. It's very unstable in cross winds and isn't as secure as the Freeride. I think the extra 1 K is just for Bling.[/quote I am not sure but think it was the Proride.
  2. I had a Thule roof rack. Took an off ramp too quickly. heard a nasty bang and found my bike, still attached to the roofrack by the wheels, dangling next to my window. Frame had come out of the upright arm which is supposed to hold it in place. No damage to my wife's car but derailleur hanger broken, derailleur damaged . total cost about R2500. Probably my own fault for going too fast. I sold the roofrack shortly afterwards.
  3. Hey Speed Devil, Let's try to keep this one serious and informative. I am not likely to be in your kitchen when your missus is upset and I don't think many other hubbers will be either. That remains your problem.

  12. That is the one.
  13. CENTURION CENTURION Between Botha Avenue and the railway line.
  14. CENTURION. CENTURION The map posted by paulvs is pretty accurate except that 2 or 3 of the attacks happened slightly to the North, just on the other side of the highway next to the on-ramp
  15. P.S. 4 inch travel or 5 inch travel ? Not much in it really.
  16. Hi cat-i, A few points: 1. They LEND to You. You BORROW from THEM 2. I am impressed that at the age of 71 you are only now considering a full suspension bike for the first time. 3. Try Specialized, Mongoose, Scott, Gary Fisher, Marin, Merida, Rocky Mountain 4. All full suspension bikes are GREAT fun. Once you have ridden a full suspension bike for a while you will wonder why you did not get one sooner and how you ever managed without one.
  17. I will bring my wife too.
  18. THANKS Skye and Slowbee.
  19. Sleeping Beauty (aka Mathilda) because of her amazing recovery so far !!!!
  20. I will probably not be back on my bike by then ,but I could not miss the chance to meet some of you fantastic people ,so I will be there for the braai afterwards.
  21. Rest in Peace Craig. My sincerest sympathies to the family and his friends.Strength to the family in this difficult time.
  22. Regarding my earlier "vigilante" post I do have to say that while I do NOT believe that violence should be answered with more violence I DO believe that these monsters do not understand anything else. The Russian may well be correct but there is also the other saying " GOD helps those who help themselves. I am sorry I won't be able to join the "prayer ride" which the russian is planning but eye operation number 7 last week means that I am restricted in my movements at the moment. May GOD be with you.
  23. thanks TomTrek
