  1. Hi Ronelle. Nice pics - also checked the website. Have you got any of James Perry?
  2. I have just read on Cyclingnewssa.co.sa about a comment made by a Mnr Wagenaar (convener of selectors?). What a buffoon! He implies that SA has no chance of a medal so youngsters should be sent for "experience". That would probably make us the only country in the world to send athletes to the Olympics for experience! Experience the youngsters can get in Europe for season or two! The Olympics is for the best you have got to do the best they can for their country. I'm glad to see that Tony Harding stood his ground iro David George on this issue.

John Lee broke his femur close to the hip and there is no way that can be properly healed and the lost racing time made up and I think TBL are acknowledging this with the races he's doing recently! And RH is totally unsuited for the multiple lap type race that's scheduled. I question whether the selectors have really done their homework properly? A review of the last few world champs is all that is needed to see who can perform in this type of race! And what of the current and forthcoming SA Champs - surely they must be relevent for both track and road?
  4. Why must it be a real mission, or impossibility even, to get to see the full results of the various province champs that took place over the last weekend? N. Gauteng's are posted on the CSA site - can't all the other regions do likewise? Would be a logical place for a person to look for them.
  5. Now that you know what its all about, wouldn't you and Jan make a good team for next years race!!!!!

  9. Hi Wayne. Don't suppose you got one of James Perry riding the new Silverback TT bike on its first public exposure?
  10. Good to see Neotel doing the pacing in the earlier stages. Asked James if he was disappointed with his own result so far, but he shrugs shoulders and says they are all working like dogs for Jaques now. Good teamwork.
  11. Going for DuToitskloof KOM... DG, Jaques nmostly obscured, Froome, Pfannberger, Kackelhoffer... Second group over DTK.
  12. Go to www.girodelcapo.co.za and then to The Event and then to Race Bible and you will find all the teams plus lots of other usefull info!
  13. Anyone got photos of the PE Herald? Seems have been very low profile this year! Please post on "Photos" forum if you have any - thanks.
  14. Controlc said: On Saturday I did the Remax/Die Wingerd. It was a "late entry" and I filled out an entry form and indicated that I'll be doing the long route. Later that afternoon when I checked on the winningtime results page, it indicated my correct time, but according to them I did the medium route [even though I started and cycled with the long route bunches] I no great fan of WT (still waiting for a 2007 CdeC query), but difficult to see how your error can occur because the timing mats are all that is used to indicate where you started, what form you filled is irrelevant - once all the long guys have left, then they are reset to start on the next distance. Is it not possible that you started late on the long route and the mats had been set already for the shorter route? Strange things do happen though - on an event at the end of last year, WT gave me a time +/- 20 mins quicker than my computer - you win some ,you loose some!!!!

  19. Looks more like popularity poll rather than ability ?????!!!!
  20. Posted by WHEELS: 6. OLD DOG Robbie Dale. He was one of the best track cyclists at his time. Robbie Dale was an ok track cyclist on the National scenario, and possibly very good on the Western Province scenario, but in keeping with the initial thread of implying nepotism/favouritism in selection he would not have been representing SA overseas had he not had the appropriate connections. I used to watch him get trashed many times by roadies just "having a bit of fun" at Bellville. Personally, I think that if a selectors son, husband, wife, girlfriend, etc., is in the selection stakes, then that selector should not be allowed to participate in that particular process.
  21. This is the way it is and always has been - especially for track riders where there isn't likely to be such a great outcry from the general cycling community! Remember how Robbie Dale always got selected for the "nice" trips although he was far from being the best trakkie of his era?
  22. Cyclist dies in collision 2007-12-30 18:17 A cyclist died after a car in Kimberley hit him, said Northern Cape police on Sunday. Spokesperson Sergio Kock said the incident took place in Barkly Road on Friday. Kock said: "It is alleged that three vehicles were involved in a collision and one of the car's hit the cyclist who died at the scene. Extract from news24.com. No other info given.
  23. Anyone got one of the SA made bikes? See NeoTel are using them in 08 and also heard on the g/v that James Perry will be helping them develop a TT bike. Hope they going to hang together otherwise could be embarrassing!
  24. Wie trou op 'n Sondag?? From the text I think they were Jewish people. Also tried to send a reply to the "columnist" but found it blocked - didn't get too much support, I suspect!
  25. Barloworld definitely not contesting - they cruising with Barlows executives. Soler may only do a few k's as recovering from op. Therefore... Neotel will win!!!!
