I've been trying all these gels and whatnot and Hammer works the best for me by far. Going to invest in a tub of the powder this week, caffe latte flavour of course! Having said that, peanut buttter, jam, and banana rolls sounds good! I notice I get really hungry if I ride for more than 2 hours, even if I'm using Hammer.

I was in this exact position a week ago, was even considering the same bikes. It's definitely worth looking for a 2013 model instead, good savings to be had. I ended up with a custom build - Momsen AL529 frame, Deore/SRAM X5 groupset, Rockshox Recon Silver and Avid Elixir brakes for R9 500. If you don't find anything good in a 2013, from the bikes you listed I'd probably go with the Titan. I think the 2013 Titan Comp has the same spec as the 2014 model, but is like 2k cheaper.

Thanks guys! Yeah, I was on a cheapie Titan before, now on a Momsen AL529 frame with Deore/SRAM X5 derailers and shifters, Rockshox Recon Silver fork, and Avid Elixir hydraulic disc brakes. Have clocked around 50km since picking it up on Saturday and I'm absolutely loving it! Only complaint would be that the Momsen saddle is rock hard, threw my Titan saddle on it instead and it's much more comfortable now.

Went with the original deal in the end, massive upgrade from my Titan Cruz 26R. Awesome bike! Really good service from Irfaan at Solomon's as well!

Hi I'm in the market for a 29er hardtail (budget around 9k), my bike shop has offered me the following: 2013 Trek Cobia 29er - but he only has a large, so he said he can move the components over to a Momsen AL529 medium frameset and sell this to me for R9 500. Is this a good deal? What other options do I have in this price range? He also offered me a medium 2013 Trek X-Caliber 29er for R12 000, but that's over my budget. I don't know much about the different components etc. (I'm new to MTB) so any advice is appreciated. Thanks!
