  1. My ride yesterday at the Queenstown gamepark - home movie https://youtu.be/SEBVydxZVy8
  2. My last CRC parcel spent almost 3 weeks at Customs in January/February. Useless bunch!!
  3. All of you with special glasses that can see into the future, please stop the bus on the spot. Lets wait for the verdict and stop this game of speculating. Leave this "skinder or gossip stories " to the old ladies in the small towns that do not have anything else to say, in order to feel good about themselves and how bad everyone else is. Lets leave this matter untill the UCI provides us with a Press Release. I am sure mr C also has legal rights when people defame him in public, without having facts. (there has been numerous court cases about FB lately) (i am not connected to him in anyway, but feel that this matter needs to be handled with sensitivity, untill all the facts are on the table)
  4. I am looking for 2x "Karoo to coast entries" please, if anyone can assist? contact: 0605779667
  5. From my experience being part of the Health care industry i can only say 1 thing - negotiate , negotiate and negotiate prices and charges. If you don't then expect to pay maximum. The healthcare professionals wait weeks and months to get paid by most medical aids, meanwhile the merc and holiday home needs to be paid for. Private and medical aid patients get charged levies or extra fees to keep the cash flow going. If you have to have an operation, ask whether the anesthetist or surgeon or x-ray department or laboratory or even the hospital, is contracted in or out to medical aid fees BEFORE ANY SERVICE IS RENDERED. If the anesthetist is contracted out, ask the surgeon to use another person or negotiate directly with the anesthetist before the procedure, to not have to pay above the medical aid rates. If you are scared to speak to the doctor, then pay up and keep quiet. a Doctor is a person like you and me and they will negotiate with you, if you state your reasons or financial situation to them,as it is. Business is business today!!
  6. Anybody doing the Grahamstown to Sea MTB event 13/7/2014 ? I believe its a nice fast ride . http://www.roag.co.z...town-2-sea.aspx http://cmgorha1.wix.com/grahamstown2sea
  7. Which mountain bikers are getting financial support from Cycling SA, to assist them in preparing for the next Olympics? Have we got a structured plan to get them on the podium? Are they currently the best prospects to achieve for SA at this Olympics XC race, or just to represent SA? just curious................
  8. It is good for mountain biking to have another lady joining the "fat tyre peloton". Our ladies need competition to get better. Well done Anriette!! 1 Science2Sport / Meccer Solo Female Anriette Schoeman 323-2 9:53:22.856 -
  9. It would be very nice if somebody can start a Facebook page, where all cyclist that have taken pictures over the years of Burry, can post it in remembrance of this LEGEND. Lets only stick to pictures and no long messages please, as it is a specific request. Perhaps somebody can then even print a book of Burry Stander live in pictures from when he started cycling, until today. It will help us to celebrate his wonderful life. He Achieved more in 25 years, than most of people will achieve in a lifetime
  10. I have sympathy with you but bashing the supplier, will not get you anywhere. You should rather have mentioned your story and suggested that everybody with a similar fork, should have it checked out immediately for cracks or material failure. As a matter of fact, Omnico or Cannondale should recall all similar forks for a checkup, similar to what Toyota etc had to do a while ago to show that in this instance rider safety, is crucial to them. Anything less would be seen as how much $$$ can they make out of riders, and not care about safety issues. Perhaps somebody must design an airbag linked to your helmet and Camelbag, to improve rider safety hehe
  11. But why do they break the laws? We need to establish how it was obtained, and who is prepared to ignore medicine laws to the detriment of cycling and society as a whole. Any bad apples must be removed before more lives are destroyed!
  12. I feel that the doctor or pharmacist involved with the EPO scandal should be identified by the hawks, and then named and shamed by losing their medical registration to practice in SA. We don't need these guys on the street to embarrass cycling or SA, or to feed our kids with enhancement drugs. What happened to those doctors involved with Lance (Dr Ferrari) , should also happen here. I beg the minister of Sport and Health to get the Hawks to do a full investigation from A to Z to clean up cycling, by making examples of these "medical drug lords". Using enhancement drugs makes a person a fraudster and a cheat, and we should have zero tolerance! What do you think?
  13. This will open a can of worms if it happens - cost implications for those youngsters with big wheels already. It will be good for the bike industry however, as they will sell more bikes, as riders will upsize at some stage.
  14. Has anybody heard of this rumour that all mtb riders below u23 age mtb categories, maybe restricted to 26" and 27.5" bikes in the future? Got told at a bike shop the other day about this and that emails are flying around about the possibility. Is it nonsense? I think it would be good to restrict them similarly to the road cycling juniors, using restricted gears. As far as i am concerned its even more difficult or damaging to the legs of the youngsters on a mountain bike having all the gears available to them. Distance rules should also be strictly enforced to protect them..
  15. Setup related - check handlebar to seat distance - stem length or seat rail position ? Try different setups; Do lots of back exercises a few times a day. Could even be the bed you sleep in, that's to soft.
  16. So what do you say? Do you look at the best future prospect at the 2016 Olympics , or do we just fill the spot in the team with the best available because we have to? Tough choices hey! KZN MOUNTAIN BIKING Interesting debate on 2nd Male XCO rider for Olympics on Twitter. The question being asked by Mr Tread is if SASCOC agree to a second rider, who should it be? Choices given are Phil Buys, Rourke Croeser, James Reid and Brendan Davids. All are fantastic XCO cyclists. Right now it has to be said, that even though the last 3 mentioned are KZN boys, Phil has to be the best choice based on form and results. We don't think he has been beaten by the others in straight competition yet. Its been close but Phil seems to pull it off. The question is being asked because of grooming for 2016. All 3 of the others are still U23. Rourke has this plus 1 year to go, James this plus 2 and Brendan this plus 3 before they get into the Elite Category. Mmmm. Makes it interesting. In that time, anything can happen. There are a few other riders coming through the ranks that could match these guys with the right porridge and training. Africa Champs take place in Mauritius on Saturday and most of them will be there. Let's see what happens. Not an easy decision at all.
  17. Maybe Thule and other companies should have a notice printed about the extra number plate and attach it to every bike carrier. it is required by law to not obscure number plates, otherwise all criminals will do anything to hide the numbers.
  18. I would look for a good 2nd hand bike, and be prepared to replace maybe some drivetrain parts like chain, casette and chain rings to get it 100%. Also check fork for leaks etc.
  19. Unless you are a serious rider, i will go for the lightest, best spec bike you can get. At the end of the day, the lightest bike will make you faster up the climbs. If you want the wheels to roll a bit softer , but probably have a much heavier and expensive bike - go for the 29er. 9 speed is fine, unless you want to spend more I love my 26er softail and has no intention of beating the top riders. Just want to enjoy the ride at a reasonable pace and stay fit. Get the Stans tubeless tape to fit into rims + valves to make wheels tubeless - much cheaper option. Most Maxxis and many other tyres, can easily be made tubeless with the stans tape + slyme - don't need genuine tubeless tyres
  20. I have the Tacx imagic with similar features and TTS3. Took a while I but figured it out Use the SAME usb connection everytime on your pc/lapto once drivers are installed. Depending on the windows, try and locate Tacx usb drivers and install with Tacx plugged out. You may also have to delete the specific usb controllers in the device manager of system and the control panel, before installing the drivers as it may be corrupted by now. Wait till prompted to add Tacx cable.
  21. I have just bought a set of the brand new American Classic RACE 29er wheels for my son, for national XC races. It's only 1.4kg for the set, and comes with the tubeless kit already added. The rotational weight on a 29er wheel, is extremely important. The price is very reasonable - try Buycycle or CWC I would definitely consider it, as it is best value for money out there.
  22. I have a Scott Spark 20 - i think its a 2010 model. Can i use a Fox RP23 rear shock on it, and what size travel should it be, if its possible? The current nude shock is non functional Please advise
  23. Phillip Buys finished 51st and Renay Gouwstra 78th respectively If we may send a 2nd rider to the Olympic games, then i would send James Reid to gain experience for the 2016 Games, based on his 4th place today in the u23 race. I have the future of Mtb in SA in mind, with my choice as a 2nd rider.
  24. Check if you can't reset or recalibrate the unit. Some of these types of products have to be calibrated at sea level to function correctly. Contact local import agent in SA or google altitude calibration.
