  4. Was an EPIC film - must get in on Blu-Ray! XC seem so boring now!!
  5. Thanks Patches! Now I know where to look for some real bikes
  6. No Trek Slash or Remedy in SA ????... darn! What bike shops in SA have the bikes that Patches mentioned on their floors?? What are the pricing on these bikes? Are there parts for these bikes in SA? When you walk into a few bike shops here in Pta for eg. and ask for their 140mm / all mountain models I usually get the standard reply of "no, we don't do those, but we have these XC models, here are 3 models to choose from". Surely one would like to sit on it, see it, feel it, check the size, hell even ride it down the stairs (if there is any) outside the shop to get a feel for the bike you are about to purchase? You test drive a car before you buy it? The point I am trying to make is, that those who started off with XC or first timers who wants to try out all mountain, and wants learn to go faster down the trail and learn to take those jumps, are limited to options/models in SA - in most cases there aren't any of these in our LBS! It does not make sense to haul your XC bike hectic terrain if its not designed to take that punishment / or even slapping a 140mm fork to your current setup...it's not designed for that.
  7. Well after watching Strength in Numbers last night I realized there is more too mountain biking than XC riding. **ck it, you get so stoked to see those guys riding! We are flooded and brainwashed with XC and XC bikes - give us more options to expand the sport + there is enough terrain in South Africa were one would ride such bikes!
  8. This movie is going to be EPIC! Glad I got my tickets in time! Can't wait!????
  9. Hi guys, Thought I'd share this with you... I got myself one of these rubber bracelets with all my medi-info on it + it sends out a notification to your next of kin that you are in an emergency, when a person sms your unique number. This would be very helpful when you are out on a ride with friends and they may not know all your medical info, or whatever activity you might be doing This could save your life (no pun intended) http://www.ice-aid.co.za/home.html
  10. what? 2 Years? pfff
  11. Any info yet? Found on another thread the entries was R8916 (per team) for this year. Should be something similar next year maybe? Is there really such a long waiting list? Do you get picked by panel to enter? Can someone please explain this to me?
  12. Uhmm, ja. Tried that. No info on the 2013 event, and after watching the Sani2C update on Supersport last night, they mentioned something about people being on the waiting list since the beginning of the event?? No mention of that either on the website? Do you enter your details on the site, submit it, and hope in 6 years time you will get a reply that you have been selected to enter this race? No mention of costs as well?
  13. and it is usually by those who stay in townships
  14. got my tickets - looking forward to seeing it on da BIG SCREEN!
  15. Ok, so i want to do this event. How do you enter? Is there like a 3 year waiting list? How does the entry process work?

  20. mountain biking
  21. I am, and a quite a large group of my mates are interested in acquiring those skills and equipment. Think I need to move to another town, getting gatvol of of this flat earth here in gauteng need to ride more forests and mountains!
  22. I whole wholeheartedly support your post!! When asking bike shops "Why don't you have the all mountain / technical trail model?" the reply is "we don't import them, there is no market here". Okay fine, no market because XC is big in SA and everyone is coining it with importing XC bikes only, then why don't create an "All mountain" market? If I had a choice of bikes I would have definitely bought a Trek Remedy or Slash instead of my Fuel EX, or whatever other brand. And yes, we do have mountains and forests where these bikes would be put through their paces + it attracts another crowd to the mountain biking scene. I rarely see a XC vibe when I browse sites from overseas, and yes there is more to mountain biking than marathon races and cape epics, and it is not a matter of can we get along it's a matter of catering for everyone in the sport. I really hope we will see more of these machines on the trails and in our shops!
  23. I am sukkeling lately with the same thing! Weekends are fine, then I will get up early for anything! I go to bed at around 9:30/10:00-ish, surely 7 to 7.5 hours sleeping should be enough? Currently I snooze for an hour (alarm set for 5am), then I still find it hard to get out of bed.
