  1. Would a race king front & back hold up for the Karkloof trials? Doing the classic in April and is a bit in two minds wether to get another race king (front). Currently running a Bontrager XR3 front (came stock) with the bike and Conti Race King 2.2 rear. Any comments/suggestions appreciated.
  2. Got this on e-bay for my FuelEx 7, goes by the name "Guardzilla" Made of Impact Modified Acrylic.... For those with FuelEX's who are interested: http://www.ebay.com/itm/Trek-Fuel-EX-rock-guard-downtube-frame-protector-silver-/270936793671?pt=Cycling_Parts_Accessories&hash=item3f15176247
  3. Great race! The catering was s*** though. R25 for a cold boerie. I asked the lady if she could warm it up, after a half-harted attempt, it was still cold - she refunded me. Commentator also threw a few swear words with kids around and some distasteful comments to finishers....
  4. What route would you suggest for a first-timer to this race? I usually do 30-40km races and had done one 70km race. 40km or 60km??
  5. Does the Mr Price Karkloof classic use these same trails? If so, I can't wait to go ride there!!!
  6. THANKS MAN!!
  7. I am confused? The Karkloof Mtb festival is on the 20-22 April, but when is the actual races?? I registered on the Mr Price site to enter the event, but all the races starts on the Friday according to this http://www.mrpricehe....aspx?RaceId=77 When is the half-marathon (40km) & the full marathon(60km) ??? This would be my first time riding in the area....
  8. WOW! thanks for mentioning Cycle Mashatu - I am so going to do this!! Never heard of it! ....oh the wonders of a forum!
  9. hierdie gee my nou genoeg rede om volgende keer 'n persoon voluit in die gesig te bliksem as hulle goed net so weggooi! For Fark Stakes!!! :cursing:
  10. Agree, but the funny thing is when there is a sale or clearance or when you import (in some cases), the costs are so much lower, makes you think about the ACTUAL cost of producing the product and the TOTAL RIPP-OFF markup on some of these items...
  11. Jeesh! We are spoilt for choice!!! ...seeing Karkloof mentioned a few times...I am now very interested to go and have a look/ride Why don't you please post some pics that would make us go and support your local trails? I agree with the earlier post that we should stop complaining about what we got.... Would love to see some Karkloof pics... I can vouch for Groenkloof/Fountains in Pretoria - go there every weekend, great singletrack and well-marked routes.
  12. my 2cents... I love my mountain biking, I also like the "lifestyle", but I don't get that feeling here in SA. I always find myself on international websites looking for clothing they have to offer. There are always so much variety to choose from and different designs for different parts of the mtb "lifestyle"...racing... free ride...downhill...xc...etc. Just the other day I saw a guy at a race with a mtb jersey that was so cool (and different!) (http://www.clubridea...eys/new-west-12), that have more of a free-ride vibe to it, and it looked like he wasn't there to race, but to just enjoy being on his bike on another trail - and that is what I was looking for. But now I have to import that similar shirt, and at R700+ I am not willing to do so, so I rather stick with my "plain" Fox or First ascent shirt that I got for a lot cheaper. Same with "baggy"-type pants. The one's I got has a very thin chamois - so again I find myself online looking for Endura pants... Just go onto pinkbike.com and you get that "lifestyle" feeling (random selection: http://www.pinkbike....Trove-2012.html ) - with the clothing to accompany it , and yet we are so limited for choice in this country. Unfortunately people in this country don't want pay over 500 bucks for a shirt and over 700 for pants (ok - some will), so you're pricing will have to be very attractive without compromising quality & too stand out from the rest. All the best with your venture!
  13. sweet! just what i was looking for. Thanks!

However these can be purchased as add-ons / additional.
