  1. Where in Pretoria can one do a proper bike fit setup? And what are the costs?
  2. Did anyone notice this reply? Jy moes vir hom 'n sakkie bene gegee het!
  3. 5 Days to go! Can't wait!
  4. The organizers must learn from these experiences. And also don't start batches so close to each other! No more future USN events for me, thank you.
  5. referring to the title of this thread, you must also be one then...if you are a mountain biker that is....
  6. You didn't miss much.... + I believe another vehicle has been stolen....
  7. R120 for : 1. Hiking with your bike 2. Riding through rubbish dumps, which leads to punctures (the worst part of doing some events in Gauteng is riding through these) 3. Rude riders taking short-cuts & thinking it is ok to pass others waiting a the bottle neck. (that bloody oke with the off leg - also pushing a lady over while busting his way through the queue at the bottle-neck) 4. A 27km race, not 30km. 5. Bike wash rip-off of R40 bucks. Finished off the cleaning at home. 6. ANOTHER CAR STOLEN! @ USN Event. (I believe there was also one stolen at the previous event at Voortrekker) 7. Parking in the veld - no cleared area for parking. 8.Bottle neck at the gate to enter the starting area. 9. Batches starting too close - leading to bottle necks. We are a whole bunch of people that will give this race a miss in the future. And they seriously need to consider getting the police involved to patrol the area to make sure vehicles aren't stolen. The singletrack was ok - you will get better bang fir your buck at Groenkloof & Van Gaalens.
  8. hey... pssst..
  9. Arm warmers First ascent Magneeto Jacket Leg warmers (if it is really cold) Buff
  10. Hope there is a great crowd turn up! Will definitely be there! To those who haven't seen these guys in action - please come and support them. From what I have seen when they practice, the more you cheer, the higher they jump and the faster they go Good luck to all those who is riding in the competition!
  11. 4 Weeks after I have replaced my old tube-setup front tyre with a tubeless continental race king 2.2, I still get flats and when inflated at above 2.0 psi, air escapes from the rim/tyre. This is after I have spend R300 to get it repaired at my LBS. The last time I was there, they (LBS) suggested I get a Stan's rim strip with a new valve, as air was escaping around the previous valve and the rim did not seal properly with previous rim tape. With this new rim strip I managed to get 3 rides in, but with a front tyre at 1.8 psi. After a proper wash after the weekend's riding on Monday I inflated the tyre to around 2.0 psi. Last night when I wanted to go for a ride the front tyre was completely flat! I have none of these problems on my rear tyre, which is exactly the same setup. Even the Stan's and that blue goo they inserted into the front tyre does not seem to seal the bloody thing! (the rear only runs on 2 cups of stan's) So it was a total waste to get myself a Continental Race King, I would have been better off by keeping the Bontrager tyre on. (which wasn't a proper UST tyre) I'm taking it back in again today. Totally put off by converting to a tubeless set-up, but I don't want to go back to tubes! I have none of these problems on my rear tyre!
  12. Is there any video footage of this event?
  13. I can recommend these for some inspiration/motivation & that passion of getting out there and riding your bike! Happy riding! http://www.pinkbike.com/news/videos/ http://www.filme-von-draussen.ch/ http://www.pinkbike.com/news/pinkbike-photo-epics/
  14. You should ride more, and worry less about what people are wearing.
  15. Now people can't read, I never said anything about fashion or looking cool. WTF? Why would I care if anybody looked or stared at me??????? Maybe it's something that is important to you I think. Yes, the pro's do ride with lycra. Yes 90% of mountain bikers out there ride with lycra, so what? I agree with Riyadh & Pieter1. Does everyone go to work in suits?
  16. True mountain biking does not require lycra - I have been riding with baggies for 5 years now, and no, it does not get caught in bushes etc all the time, then you can't ride. I love riding in baggies. I own 2 pairs of Fox pants, you won't go wrong with them...happy riding
  17. Thank you for the input!
  18. Where is this??
  19. A custom Strength in Numbers branded Session 9.9 frame
  20. Anyone
  21. Reason i'm asking, i have been riding at Groenkloof for the last 4 years on most of the weekends. 2 a-holes were coming from the wrong direction on the trail, and I told them so. I would not repeat the reply I got, and was also told it's a "new" route. Funny, do these 2 a-holes always follow routes with the directional signage facing to the back of them??? http://www.magnet-textures.com/textures/2011/4/339-560-1-rusted-back-of-sign-ico-big.jpg I have it you follow signs facing towards you showing the direction? Maybe it's just me.. http://www.specialized-sa.co.za/images/resources/Groenkloof_sign.jpg
  22. Is it also rude/unfriendly if you tell people they are coming from the wrong direction on a trail?
  23. Tools? What do you carry with you on a stage race?
  24. Can't wait! https://vimeo.com/33078749
  25. What silicone do you squirt onto the fork? Is this a good practice? I just wash them properly with car shampoo For the rest it is a proper wash, dry and lube procedure.
