  1. BIG BALLS for this track
  2. So a FF helmet is required for all classes?
  3. I started out with flat pedals.....7 years later, and I'm still loving it. I can not even begin to tell you how many times in the last 7 years have I seen guys/girls at local races falling down on rocks, climbs and the odd downhill section while being clipped in. Even the XC dudes 'n ride with who have been cycling for a few years still moer down every now and then because their clipped in. I think it must be like swimming with a cannon ball attached to your foot
  4. Cool. What is the length of the track? Time?
  5. On the FB page there is a "Sports Class" for beginners/trail bikes. Do they ride on the same DH track?
  6. Show me, where?? How much do you guys take for spending money? (ie. lunch, beer etc.)
  7. This trip looks totally doable! If you don't have a AM bike (like me) it would work out cheaper to hire a bike there than to buy a new AM bike here. Hiring a bike for 2 weeks looks like it would roughly work out to R10k (http://www.toricomorzine.com/bikehire/). I know it would be better to have your own bike, but if you don't have the cash for a new rig, and really want to do this trip, it looks like hiring would be an option.
  8. LOL! Great post!

  10. JEEESH! Ah, ***k it. Reason I was asking, if had to drop the cash on a new bike, it would work out less if you had to buy it overseas (not including the import tax raping) and the options are basically limitless compared to SA. The only other option seem like you will have to book a trip there then buy the bike, ride it a few times then bring over as "luggage".
  11. Is the trail a coming down from the top of Klapper kop?
  12. Question: If you have a mate in the UK, can you send him money, let him buy a bike there for you then, DHL the bike to SA as a "gift"? Or would you still pay import taxes and all that jazz? How much would it cost roughly to DHL a bike to SA?
  13. love the paint job on this one! http://ep1.pinkbike.org/p5pb8437218/p5pb8437218.jpg
  14. What runs do you use for enduro? Downhill section @ Oom Piet? That thing can get scary with all that ruts, fun though...
  15. Already craving another Enduro !!!! Where can we get some racing photos of the event?
  16. Here is my Stage 1 run. Went over the bars 6min in, luckily not too bad. Had a look at the course preview videos of Nigel again, jeesh, compared to mine it looks like I'm standing still Was great fun though, learned a lot. WATCH IN HD MODE PLEASE! http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0ZwlwQCzfWk
  17. Gauteng "organisers" can learn a lot from the KZN dudes, they know how to offer proper mtb'ing and look after the riders - like Dave said during the prize giving "it's not about making money, it's about giving back to the riders" - something like that. I dig enduro so much more now and gained much more respect for the top guys and the pro's! There is a lot of training lying ahead for me - but that's cool. Learned a lot from this event, and where my skill level actually lies, man, did I get a wake up call, LOL. The vibes are so much cooler than these XC events up here in GP. Once again, big up to all for this event. Totally stoked!!
  18. Awesome day! Thanks to all who made it possible & for Nigel! This was some of the most fun I had, great vibes!!!!!
  19. There will be no practice for me - going into this one blind. Heading down to KZN on Friday! Stoked for this enduro! There are 4 stages...
  20. Of course! Get us some decent bikes here in SA!
  21. Love the sweet stuff....but in moderation. I'm also making a more informed decisions these days...
  22. Thanks for keeping us posted BrianFantana! Bliksem that town looks like a lekke spot to do some biking! I wonder why they don't broadcast this series over the web like RedBull does with the DH??
  23. One thing l learned from cycling......... in this country, is that you don't get a variety of bikes and every second bike shop wants to sell you a flippen 29'er XC bike .....
  24. That is what makes life interesting - difference in opinion. This is just my experience, I am not generalising, and I don't question some peoples dedication...
  25. Depends on the spec build you want, anywhere from 45k and up - this is at Morningside though....
