  1. My broker has been helping to get me onto Inspire but its worth being aware that if your Multiply was linked to Fundsatwork or Myraid and not your Health Cover (my Medical is in my wife's name to avoid my company group scheme medical aid) you may need to apply as a "new Multiply / Inspire" person. I have asked that they try link my existing Multiply score and level to the new Inspire so I am not starting from scratch. Will update when I have news...

  2. So if you are like me and "all in with Momentum" and have health, life (Myraid), retirement and short term as well as Multiply (free following a promo when I got fundsatwork with my current job) which is the better way to go?

Obviously CWC vouchers and cheap Garmin devices as well as big Myraid discounts are what I like.

I am aware that the Myraid discount is now "fixed" and being "dialed down to whatever it should be over the next few years.

So that leaves us with CWC vouchers and Cheap devices. What option gets us that?

  3. I am new to this as I switched to Momentum for short term insurance so chasing the elusive safe days.

Sorry if this has been answered before but does anyone have a view on whether cycling impacts the "safety score"? I imagine that cornering speeds on a road bike for example may exceed "safe" driving standards?

I seem to be struggling to get safe days on WFH days where the only outing was a bike ride in the morning.

Myriad is (was) the biggest draw for me as well.  What is left of the advantages at least.

    They send an email.

I attach the one file, the other is too big, 7mb

Thanks for sharing, not sure why this has not come my way yet. Thus bit: "most people can't be bothered with healthy heart etc." so we drop benefits for the ones who can be! Not great...

So unless I miss something big,  another year, another opportunity to screw us more....

Max discount on life insurance drops from 60% to 40%.

In short, although the long-term protected discount is somewhat lower compared to that attainable on the 2022 Multiply Premier discount grid, it will be available without you having to fulfil the standard Multiply discount requirements

Morning, where are you seeing this detail please? I have heard that the points system is getting an "over haul" but not sure where to go to find out what hoops I need to jump through for 2023.

The Myraid discounts are the main benefit from where I am sitting.

    Thanks

  6. The app itself is nowhere near as refined and intuitive as Zwift or Sufferfest, Rouvy and most of the other platforms. I won’t be continuing with it after the trial is over. Needs more development I think.

Working on the download etc. now. Plan is (was) to ride with a mate that is in the USA.

Seems we can't setup a Group ride unless I am missing the "Group Ride" button according to this article

    https://support.fulgaz.com/hc/en-us/articles/360049828932-Creating-your-own-group-rides-and-races

Anyone have any tips? Plan is to start at around 17:00 SA time.

    Thanks!

  7. Quick question on the Makro vouchers:

    How do they actually work?

You receive a voucher code, do you activate it to your Makro M-Card App or do you simply show this to the person at the checkout counter to redeem?

Or can you only use it for online purchases?

Used one on the weekend, received a SMS with code, read it to the check out person and transaction was done. Not sure about the app and what they do if you don't use the full value though.

  8. Hi Hubbers

Looking for some advice around the H31 aero bar and headset adjustment on my Canyon Endurace CF SLX

I noticed some play when breaking hard on front break.

On inspecting the bars found that the bottom plastic "spacer" or in :"Canyon speak"  what I suspect is the "transition plate" is cracked. (See attached image)

Bars work fine and I have ridden about a week with the issue but not sure if the steerer / bar or myself are at risk while I try track one of these down.

I can source a kit on the Canyon ZA site, for R609 plus about R1000 shipping! So any tips or help while I try find a cheaper way to get this would be appreciated.

    Thanks!

    Mike

  9. Hi All

Apologies if this has been answered already but hoping I can get guidance on this one.

I am at Private club (happily getting good discount on my life policies etc. and saving $$$ at CWC).

I did one of the "new" fitness tests around July this year.

From some of the posts here it looks like the recommendation is to get another one done before the end of the year? Have I missed something?

If I don't do this will I loose my current healthy heart status?

    Thanks!

    Mike

  10. Morning Hubbers

I recently bought a Elite Suito Smart trainer that ships with a 11 Spd Shimano cassette.

My IDT bike is currently running 10 spd Campag. (I have been using a wheel on trainer the last few months)

Seems Elite Campag free bodies are not easy to find and only due in SA sometime next month. (Happy to be corrected on this) https://nsquared.co.za/collections/trainers-1/products/freehub?variant=22739160563797

The current plan is to install a 10 Spd Shimano cassette with spacer, use my existing Campag chain etc. and see how it goes.

Anyone have a view on whether this is a plan that may or may not be a good idea?

    Thanks!

    Mike

  11. Thanks for the feedback everyone and 100% agree that iffy brakes are a disaster waiting to happen!

In short it seems that I need to find a third bike shop to take my problem to where the ask will have to be "pls strip the entire brake hose etc. out of the frame and start again".

Anyone have a suggestion on where I might take the bike in the Durbanville area?

  12. Hi Hubbers

I recently bought a bike on Bike Hub that is fitted with Shimano Ultegra mechanical hydraulic disc shifters.

Since the brakes were the "wrong way around" for me (rear needs to be on the right for me) I took it down to my usual LBS and he did the switch. (A new hose needed to be bought due to internal cable routing etc.)

The front brake has been perfect, the back has been terrible since the change. 2 visits back to my normal LBS, re-seated hose, bled the brake, did stuff and no change. Lever pulls all the way to the bar and brake has very little stopping force.

Tried an alternate LBS and they "sorted it out" with another bleed, fixed connectors that were apparently incorrectly installed and advice that I should be "pumping" the lever before braking.

The "pumping" does help but surely this is not a normal requirement? I have never had to do this on my disc equipped mountain bikes and its not ideal for riding in groups or traffic when there may not be time to pump the lever.

Has anyone else seen this and could you suggest what may be causing this? My happiness with my new bike is under stain with this iffy braking situation!

    Thanks!

    Mike
