    Rugby...

To this day I can't believe how lucky we were in 2007. To win a world cup by beating (almost not) Fiji, Argentina and then England does not feel worthy of a world cup. In the end we cannot chose our opponents and the end result is all that matters but I thought that we actually played better rugby at the 1999 and 2011 World Cups even though we lost. In 1999 we lost with that Larkham drop goal at the end of an epic match and then Australia went on to easily defeat France.

    Rugby...

My uncle used to say “if the dog wasn’t shitting he would have caught the rabbit”....sounds better in Afrikaans though!
  3. Just a bit more than a week to go, can't wait!
  4. Same with those plastic disks between the spokes and the cassette. I picked up a top of the range S-Works Epic at Evans cycles in the UK for a mate of mine once. It looked SO wrong with that plastic disc which we only expect to see on kids bikes, but apparently its law in the UK
  5. I have the same but for some reason it's like a moth to a flame. I try to stay within my limits as from next year I can compete in Master Category so the bone are brittle and recovery is long. Its weird but in the last year I have consistently done more jumps than in any time of my riding career. Had a huge crash on that exact jump I tease Solly about in January, but somehow I find myself attracted to that more and more. That recently acquired Evil Following is definitely going to get me in trouble soon...
  6. Solly, next time I bump into you at G-Spot I want to see you doing that final jump. No excuses after this comment!
  7. Sorry, missed that thread so had to throw my 2c in. Believe me, I have no problem with someone fighting his corner from a minority view point. If you follow the Trump thread at all you will realise we have that in common. I actually worry a bit when I find myself agreeing with any majority point of view
  8. I definitely disagree with this. I am not sure whether there is a specific editorial standard to be able to call something a "race report", but I quite liked this write-up. As did I like Moridin's write up of W2W last year (which he also did not complete). Getting a personal perspective on the suffering (and joy) a person experienced in a race is always entertaining for me. Whether they finished or not does not take any of that away. Like Moridin Myles also persevered and finished strong. Kudo's for that!....and keep writing!
  9. Probably not kosher but figured out today that my Panerai strap fits the Fifty Fathoms. Quite like the way it looks though.
  10. Holy crap, that is a grandfather clock! Pics please
  11. Very nice! The size is deceptive. It does not look big in the picture, but I see its 44mm which is a perfect size. I also like those diving watches with the Nato/Zulu straps. That is a combination you dont see often but my mate does the same with his divers watch and it looks awesome!
  12. Have a look at this website. A friend of mine is a big watch nut as well (he has a rolex and longiness amongst others) and he bought a couple of these. I was very impressed with the quality. He even took it to On-time watches (Omega agents) and they were also impressed with the quality. For around R10k you will struggle to beat these. https://www.scurfawatches.com/ If you can push the budget to R30k then I would look on the Topwatch.co.za website. They have a few secondhand Breitlings that is worth a look. This one for example: https://www.topwatch.co.za/index.php?c=watches/watches_details&itemid=83
  13. Few questions: Do you prefer sports watches or dress watches (I assume sport since you mention the Omega)?Bracelet vs leather strap?Do you have any idea about size, ie would 44mm - 46mm be too big for you or not?
  14. We had a few chats, but I quite enjoyed the company. I rode just over 6 hrs so was near the tail of the field. That 63km nearly broke me last year so this year I decided to rather do the 37km. Looking forward to it very much!
  15. Are the sweeper with the single speed and flannel shirt that rode at the back last year?
  16. Cool Bike! I see you are are also 1.91m. Did you go with the the L or XL? I am on a XL Following V1 and the fit is perfect even though the sizing chart suggests that I should be a L.
  17. And tubeless repair kit. Was surprised to find out that not all tubeless riders are aware of the existence of tubeless repair kits!
  18. Looks like the weather is also going to play along. Some rain mid next week but race day will be perfect. Let’s hope it stays like that.
  19. You will love it! This is now my favorite race. I am doing the 37km this year, but that’s mainly because I am not very fit at the moment and will be doing The U in Oct as well
  20. There is no cut-off time. Final guy came at around 7:30 last year.
  21. I did just over 6hrs last year. Was damn tempted to bail at WP3 but pride kept me going. The technical stuff is all rideable but it is relentless and rocky. When you are very tired even going down does not provide relief as you need to concentrate not to crash.
