  1. One of the country’s oldest and traditionally toughest events is The Barberton XCM Mountain Bike Challenge. Fortunately, when I accepted an invitation to attend the route launch for the January 2016 event, I was blissfully unaware of what lay ahead – or rather, above. Click here to view the article
  2. Headline writer should be shot at dawn. Or any time of day really
  3. Yes sorry was abt to say i missed that. so maybe he was in kit but if he was seriously in the dwang would he be racing Guessing he would be a cert for any testing done today.
  4. Rorke raced at Dullstroom today. Bf says he doesnt think he was in kargo team kit tho.
  5. I hope they find a sponsor soon, a nicer group of pro's you will not find.
  6. Does anyone know if the people who crossed the line in almost 21 hours, actually stopped and slept somewhere....surely???
  7. And i didnt queue at sani or use a headlight to brush my teeth either..#justsaying. I did however have a massage and enjoyed great food including salads. If you had offered me a pedi i probably would have been to tired to accept because i was there to ride, not to be pampered.
  8. why are there no mens only races with whisky tastings at the finish and strippers to clean the bikes, in that case?? Thanks cargyrl for helping enlighten these boys.
  9. Personally I find all these girls events patronising and cliched. Most of them are about 20-40km long which is my first issue. Secondly, it's probably going to cost the earth. Plus, although I hold several Cape Wine Academy certificates I actually prefer a beer after a ride. As for getting my hands dirty, show me a bike wash after a race that leaves you with a clean chain! You still have to take a rag to your bike and get all the junk off your chain. *Rant over*
  10. Ja I have now received close to R400 back, that plus the shirt which is great quality, and the CSA licence makes it a good deal. Will join again next year unless they change the t&c drastically.
  11. Thanks - some interesting points and new info.
  12. Depends also on your budget, the Northern Suburbs are more affordable - Durbanville/Plattekloof/Edgemead and you have Tygerberg MTB all around you. 100km+ of trails. I am not sure where the Southern SUburb people have been riding because Tokai was affected by the big fire earlier this year. You can also live in the CBD and ride on Table Mountain, but for sheer volume and range of trails, the Northern Suburbs gets my vote.
  13. Still too bloody expensive!
  14. My Sahmurai Sword reamer side fell out during the Magalies Monster Dont think the plastic is great. One of the very top SA riders told me on Saturday that it hurts his hands so he cant use them.
  15. Jip thats what I was thinking! I've watched the daily highlights nightly during the event so its probably going to be more of the same
  16. They have just confirmed the R182.50 they paid me today is for Cape Town Cycle Tour, R430 discounted at 25% - and Emperors Palace Classic discounted at 50%. But I want to know where the rest of my races, such as all the MTB events were. Grr.
  17. http://www.discovery.co.za/email_za/mailers/pdfs/general/team_vitality_race_calendar.pdf For you unbelievers....
  18. They actually had a whole hospitality area at the Cape Town Cycle Tour so its definitely included.
  19. Team Vitality has paid me R182.50 as of this morning. So of course I want to know how they have calculated it, because I have done a lot of races on their calendar, and if they just give 25% back on the Argus that is already R100....called the Call Centre...the guy is not even aware that pay-outs have started! So have logged a query. And yes I do realise I am criticizing a system that has "just launched and is not yet fully operational" but I expect a listed company to do things properly before launching.
  20. And now my turn - its the Magalies Monster you moron organisers. Check the calendar!
