  1. No way that is a ridiculous price, esp for a race that had such bad reviews last year. Anyway I don't get out of bed for 54kms (well, not in mid-winter)
  2. oooh suppose this is only for the 80km?? I was going to chicken out and do the half but for this bike...
  3. Great ride at Heia Safari Ranch with the ladies this morning,
  4. My god. So after several useless email back and forwards without proper response, when I was paid my Healthy Food money back this month once again without a cent from any of my races which have been logged on the Discovery website, I had to CALL them to get this response: They have not yet paid any member cash back for Team Vitality, this will only happen in May, but he couldnt promise it would be May either. SO there we have it!
  5. Still dont know about my money back...Vitality paid me R99 at the end of March..thats not half of my Cape Town Cycle tour fee.
  6. Won a set of these at a race last week, keen to put them on but worried my grips will look ragged and untidy after they have been chopped. Any issues with fitment besides having to file them (I ask as if I'm about to fit them myself...fear not.) Also must just say the plastic ends feel very cheap and breakable...R350 is over-priced. Handled them at Complete Cyclist in Bedfordview previously and that was the reason I didnt buy them.
  7. Creating headlines....I am in the business. Heck, I once applied to join their communications team
  8. Damnit i didnt go to the hospitality area after the Argus because it was so ffing far away from all my friends in the beer tent - it was off the premises! The shirt came within a week after me joining. Can anyone please tell me how we claim the money back, do they just put it into your account same as Healthy Foods rewards and all you have to do is log it as an outdoor sporting event?
  9. It must be so hard to put a smile on your face and do that, I would just want to get home to Sweden and sulk for a few days!
  10. Even worse, the release is so badly written the introductory paragraph should be the final closing one.
  11. if you google that image you will find out that it is from America not from Cape Town. I didnt pay R1 000 to get my bike to Cape Town plus airfares to ride 47km so I will probably still choose to get a group together and go ride out in the winelands. While some people can do a 47km ride, others of us use our weekends for training. I salute the cause and if I lived in Cape Town still I would line up with glee, but after the effort and organising of getting there from JHB I would prefer to take advantage of some scenery and a proper cycle. I do 47km before work in the week.
  12. Lekker pictures of my old back yard, grew up riding my Raleigh there in the days before shocks were invented. The Vipa just looks so hot too! Homegrown, love it!
  13. Do you not read previous posts? See the answer to your number 3 in my response below. Plus: You will receive cash backs for events you have already registered for, provided that: It is on the Team Vitality race calendarThe race is completedYou have not reached the quarterly spend limit of R3 000You race in your Team Vitality shirtwhat they mean with "pre-registration" is that they wont pay back the late entry fee amount, they refund you based on what it costs to do early registration.
  14. Hold off guys, I spent time this morning crossing emails with "team vitality" and "vitality dan" below has at least answered the question I kept asking about the calendar being updated for the 2,3,4th quarters in plain language! So, the reason races in the last quarter of the year are on the calendar: "The races that we have on our calendar for the other quarters are confirmed, thus we felt we should inform our members" - so yes, stupid of vitality to put these on now as it just confuses everyone. They obviously need to hire me to help with communications Sent them a link to Advendurance website and suggested they kindly add the rest of the series plus Trailseeker. No response. Apparently "it is a club rule, CGA and ASA rule to run in your Team Vitality running shirt" and refunds only apply when you are wearing said jersey. I emailed back and said I am a cyclist so those organisations dont apply to me and how do they plan on enforcing this. No response. Unless they send me 2 x different jerseys I am not wearing that to every race, how will my Facebook fans react to the pictures I post of me in dieselfde outfit week after week Having said that I will probably pay the money, so far Im already doing Argus (R400) Ride for Sight (R270) plus the first Ashburton Series race (boyfriend paid so hope I get a refund #jewish) so it seems to be a deal.
  15. Great tribute to an inspiring cyclist. Visited his shop in Shelly Beach last week and the vehicle traffic in that area is insane, definitely would not think about touching my road bike around those parts til the holiday makers left. Taxis taking even more chances than usual to try make headway where they can in bumper to bumper traffic.
  16. Well done to Allison - met her in the start chute at Die Burger yesterday. 3 days of racing consecutively, nice work!
  17. Ja I always consider Ariane a "South African professional" - claiming her I cant WAIT can it just be Saturday already please.
  18. that is absolutely cool well done to the Spez team. I hope they will help the guys maintain the bikes too - we all know how expensive this hobby is.
  19. This article shows the journalistic skill of one Chris Whitfield I believe..loving the numbers game! Excellent read.
  20. Whaaat! I demand payment for all the wasted minutes my eyes have been forced to spend, scanning adverts in every bike magazine.
  21. Have suggested to my boyfriend that this is an excellent birthday gift, 17 January 2015!
  22. Not sure why you guys are complaining, thought the water points were more than adequate, well stocked and lots of them. And is someone seriously complaining because there was an extra water point they didnt know about? So what, maybe the organisers added it in because it was so hot. Go do some PPA road races in the Cape in Stellenbosch summer where they run out of water and you get heat stroke. I was in batch E so didnt notice any bottlenecks. Other than that, quite a tough 80km in 4hrs34, not sure if it was the heat affecting me. I was looking forward to swimming but it seems you guys here in the Highveld dont like a refreshing dip like the Cape cyclists? Nice meeting Riana and a group of triathletes from Pretoria, hello to the hubbers from that crowd. Cant find the full results on SAS can anyone post a link? both ultra and marathon cut off early!?
