  1. From my own ITB experience, good rest is the first treatment. After that, get a foam roller. It sorted me out in a week, no jokes. Granted I caught it early, but nobody should ever need surgery for it. You just need to identify the cause (which was probably poor form to begin with), cancel it out, and get the rehab in.
  2. Ah, see, I hadn't thought about that. Schoolboy error hey!
  3. The only thing I wonder about them is their postage charges... and someone can step in here and shed some light on things for me. When I order from other online shops in Cape Town, they charge R30 to ship to Sandton. But the CWC shipping (from the same courier) is R80. My only gripe, sorry to down the positive mood a bit
  4. CWC is a good store. Had a bit of a hiccup with my first order from them, which I wasn't happy about, but the second was perfect. I think they set a great example for bike shops around the country. There's no reason why places like Cajees should charge the crazy prices they do, when CWC can deliver excellent products at the prices they do. Keep it up
  5. Using Shimano Ultegra now, and they're perfect.
  6. There have been a couple of questions on here about importing sunglasses, but none have been answered. Has anyone tried yet? And if so, did you get hit with the 45% clothing import duty?
  7. Hahaha It's good to be back! I got a bit side-tracked with work, sorry I disappeared for so long! I have since landed a prize catch though, so it all worked out for the best
  8. Wow, look at those demographics! It's no wonder I never found a girlfriend on here!!
  9. Well done on a fantastic day everyone!! I really had a good time! Was nice meeting nice new people and having random entertaining conversation Mands, no worries about Mrs. Right not showing up I got exactly what I wanted from the day
  10. Hmmm... so if we want to import stuff and not pay this pesky fee, you're the man to talk to
  11. His pink boa makes him better looking than my polka dot shirt?? I don't think so!
  12. All I can say is that I'm genuinely shocked by peoples' apparant acceptance of the matter... seems that there are a lot of people out there who are happy to just 'let it go'... A sign of the times maybe?
  13. In the end, let's just hope it's good for the sport in some way... In a free market economy, we rely on a large number of retailers competing. So hoping that these retailers get shut down is neither here nor there, because even if they're operating, there's no competition if they're fixing prices. I say, fine them, watch the industry closely, and step in if price increases are unjustified. The problem is that the damage has been done to their reputations. I have never supported Cycle Lab, because I can see their prices are bull. But for the people who have supported them, and gotten ripped off, they won't go back if they are capable of logical thought It'll probably take some time and a couple of changes in management, along with some good marketing, to win peoples' trust back. Where's there's smoke, there's a fire. And although the 'innocent until proven guilty' mindset is fine in theory, real life rarely works like that. You just have compare prices and make up your own mind about it, I sure have. So let them investigate, if people get fined, fine. If they go to jail, that's life, and more importantly, that's justice and the law. Emotions and feelings about the people involved have no place in the argument. Let's just hope we see some price cuts and that the cycling image isn't tarnished as a whole.
  14. The Sprint was HOT!!!! I cooked out on the run! That's about the same colour as my shoulders today
  15. Or alternatively, switch off and ride her... Ok ok, I'll stop...
  16. Awesome! So you spend time with one girl until either of you have a fall, then move on to the next?
  17. That I do... don't think my road bike will like me very much if I try to use it there Have you got a spare?
  18. There we go, I'm in! Bring dog food and women!!
  19. Why can't they just keep things simple... it's easy to work out if something will fit in an 8x2.5cm rectangle! But now having to measure 3:1, teams will start arguing over decimals, over where the measurements should be taken from and where to... and it generally just messes things up for everyone!

Oh no... here come the Raleigh-bashers...
  21. Well spotted Nancy! Lol Os seems upset... I'm not reading all 9 pages of that thread, but I can guess where it went... Suppose it shows how important it is to laugh at things in life... It's really not that serious in the end. But I feel like I'm racking up a decent bar tab here... Beer for the moron at the bike shop, beer for Os, plenty beer for me... anybody else keen??
  22. HAHA - SUCCESS!! I got it turned around! I completely agree... how do I change the thread's name to "Money can't buy you common sense..." Funny thing tho, I make a habit of reading absolutely everything I can about stuff I buy... owner's manuals, pamphlets, the box... everything... and I didn't see anything about being able to change the little rubber thingy around for different valve types... It's possible I missed it, but I'm not so sure... guess I'm not a very credible witness in my own defense now tho, am I...? So this rant is directed at me, from me, about my own stupidity. Hope it was as entertaining a read as it was writing about it.
  23. Hmmm... I did try that, but the little rubber thingy doesn't seem like it's keen on moving or being turned around... Is it supposed to be this hard to get it out? I don't want to try to remove it if it's not meant to come out, and break the damn thing...
  24. So, I woke up at 5.15 and decided that since I couldn't sleep it was the perfect time to get my training back on track. So I got up, got dressed, filled my water bottle and wheeled my bike out the door. I should've taken arm warmers, but hell, I'm hardcore right, I'll be ok. Pedalling along, I'm happy I got up because I'm really enjoying the ride, my first in JHB, heading out towards the West Rand. About 3km into the ride, I look down at my back wheel and it's looking a bit sorry for itself, so I decide to give it a pump to get its spirits up along with mine. So I pull over, jump off and get cracking. So I took the valve cap off, unscrewed the valve, and pressed the pump up against the valve. I listened to the air whiz out of the tube, thinking that it'd feel so much better when the tire was nice and hard... I did, for a split second, think about how *** it'd be if I'd had a flat and forgot my spare... ironic... After pressing the pump up against the valve, I flip the lever to lock it in place... but it just doesn't feel right... so I try again... still not... and I start stressing... I start pumping, and nothing's happening... So I have a good hard look at my (new) pump... and the bloody thing is WRONG FOR THE VALVE TYPE!!! That MORON at my bike shop obviously hadn't had his morning (or afternoon) cup of coffee when he sold me a pump that was never gonna work on a road bike... So there I was, walking along, R1800 Shimano Tri shoes and helmet in hand, pushing my beautiful (new) R23000 Raleigh RC7000C on the pavement... feeling like an absolute toss that I didn't check the pump before taking it out on a ride. Just goes to show that spending a lot of money on good equipment is no cure for bad luck... Thanks to Martin tho, who stopped to give me a lift home in his bakkie. Good luck for the Argus mate!!
  25. wasn't that dealt with by the harms commission? that would be the same harms who handed down the judgement today. Not entirely... The judgement says JZ can now be charged, but the ANC will likely take this to the Constitutional Court on appeal. If the appeal is upheld, no trial and the charges will be dropped. But if the Con Court supports the decision of the Supreme Court of Appeal, we'll most likely have a trial.Punt2009-01-12 05:48:04
