  1. I think all Mavic wheels uses proprietary spokes. Anything other than Mavic spokes won't fit into the hub.
  2. Ha! Glad to see I wasnt the only one getting frustrated with the B bunch. Instead of letting the momentum carry us through from the downhills, guys were pulling brakes and making a noise and then you get that constant stop-go surges which takes its toll on the legs. Also just want to say kudo's to a very very young boytjie riding in our bunch, think his name was Rory. He rode exceptionally well and eventually dropped me and a few guys going through ocean view. Well done boy!
  3. The goodie bag is actually quite nice this year compared to previous years. I'll take the five roses tea any day over the flu tablets they gave last year. (By the way, I would stay away from that energy stuff in the silver sachet, tastes worse than cough medicine)
  4. I guess its all weather dependent. Last year with near perfect conditions, almost everyone that started in the 1's and finished with the front of the bunch got sub3's. We'll just have to wait and see what the weather man says.
  5. I've never really had withdrawal symptoms but I think its all a mental thing. I smoke on and off and tend to feel weaker and more lethargic when smoking vs when I stop I feel healthier and stronger. Also once you start climbing the seeding ladder and riding in the front bunches its k@k being the guy gasping for air while everyone is just sitting comfortably. But yah, I agree, taking a puff every now and then is lekker.
  6. I think that bakkie was a white Hilux if im not mistaken. 2 or 3 years ago, they were operating around the Cape Point area.
  7. Seems as if you need to go everywhere and do everything in a group these days. SA is just getting worse and worse. I regularly ride that stretch of road going up to Cape Point alone during the week. Never really felt unsafe or had any incidents but it looks like one has to be more vigilant now wherever you riding.
  8. A few years ago I went over the bars and had a bad concussion. Advice I got from my doctor was to lay off the cycling for 2 weeks and just take it easy. I think the reason why you supposed to take time off the bike is more of a precautionary measure because should you crash again and hit your head before it has had a proper chance to heal, you will be at a higher risk for a serious head injury. Things to look out for after a concussion is continuous headaches, dizziness and nausea.
  9. Any tips for a newbie playing in their first season of fantasy? If you help me and I win then you can get a chance to use my Kickr ????
  10. I usually dont even bother to go through the 'goodie bag'. From leaking bottles to 10 flyers and a packet of flu-gon (What am I supposed to do with that?), I just take my race numbers out and toss everything else aside. But over all, a generally well organised race this year with perfect conditions. RIP to those that have passed on.
  11. Rock n Roll gold. Best lube available, bit pricy though
  12. If im not mistaken, I think tandem riders still get individual seedings and have to start in the group of the rider with the lower seeding. Could be wrong though.
  13. Besides, the wind was way worse in 2009 and the race continued then, so why not now.
  14. I actually think the race was called off prematurely and for other reasons besides the weather and protests. At the start the wind was hectic but once through the tunnel it wasnt that bad. Riding up edinburgh drive and the M3 section was chilled.
