  2. As far as I could see from the article he paid SPCA R5000 and that's all He has a farm in Delmas and still owns 5 other dogs including another Husky... Bring me a baseball bat as well...
  3. Just as a matter of interest: Mr Phillip Matthysen's sentence was completely suspended for killing his 4 month old Husky... looks like the system failed again....
  4. Simple. He took out 1.5 litres of his blodd between 8 and 12 hours before the TT and put new fresh blood in. 100% sure his team management knew about it. No Mistake. he doped' date=' Got caught and is now on his way home. No Simpler than that.[/quote'] Agreed, can't see how he did it by himself... personally I believe it was an act of desperation.... he (and Team Astana) needed results and buckled under the pressure
  5. apparently he didn't pitch for 2 tests issued by the Danish Sports Federation in May and June and if he misses a third test, it results in a automatic "non negative" result. He was training somewhere in Mexico and couldn't be reached for his scheduled tests I see they refer to him now as one of the "men in black" ....
  6. at least the beeld gave it a good show on their front page Well done to the Cape Times as well, front page news here in CT, unfortunately Die Burger thinks that sleeveless rugby jerseys sells more news papers.
  7. Hunter hiding disappointment: (extract from News24 article) Majority of his team are climbers "I'm happy, I'm very confident at the moment," he said. "We came here with a team, the majority of which are climbers, so there's not exactly too much help for me in the sprints. It's not like it's affecting my performance at all. "There's always opportunities. Tomorrow's (Thursday) a hard day and it's possible that the breakaway will go (all the way). It might end up in a sprint, but I think it's a hard day for the sprinters." With the mountains up ahead - Saturday will be the first of three days in the Alps - there are few opportunities for Hunter to try and beat the likes of Hushovd, Australian Robbie McEwen and Belgium's Tom Boonen. He seems to have them counted already, and despite already eyeing the final stage to the Champs Elysees in Paris, Hunter suggested he could try and get into a breakaway. "There's four days to come. At worst, there's Paris. But I'm not only here for that. If possible I'd like to get in a couple of breakaways, and I'll see how it goes for me," he added. "I know the condition I've got at the moment, and I honestly believe I'm capable of winning a stage." After Welsh teammate Geraint Thomas, who is making his race debut, had tried his hardest by driving the bunch sprint at the front in the final kilometre, Hunter simply ran out of space when it came to the final 50m. Comparatively ill-equipped "I'm a little bit disappointed," he added. "Thor got the jump on me. I came around the long side on the right, he had about three metres on me and I had to come from that to try and get around him. I ran out of distance. "But hey, that's the Tour de France. You can't complain. You've just got to look forward to the future." When it comes to the bunch sprints, Hunter's team is comparatively ill-equipped compared to some of the Pro Tour teams here. However he refuses to believe he cannot nail a victory. "I'm happy with what the guys are doing for me," he said. "Most of the guys are climbers. I've got one guy, Geraint Thomas, who's a young guy and a sprinter, but it's also not his job to sit on the front for four or five kilometres, he hasn't got that kind of strength. "But I really can't ask for more. At the end of the day it's for me to sprint and get in the right position, and that's what I'm trying to do." "I look forward to every day as an opportunity. Once again, today's gone past, but hopefully it will come round again. If it doesn't, that's life.
  8. agreed, as far as I'm concerned they ALL screwed up
  9. He may be a normal citizen now, but was never a "normal" cyclist - he was just to good for that.... doping or no doping Jan will always be my cycling hero... and its true what he says, a lot of people got very rich because of him and now they are the "holy cows"
  10. I was totally blown away - it was just awesome. We deffinately cannot complain about the Tour thus far.....its great !!!!!!
  11. Big George's wife was an ex-podium girl herself.... back in the day when the riders could still date the podium girls.
  12. If I'm not mistaken he was one of the unfortunate riders that came down in that bunch pile up yesterday - was lying very still at one point, just hope he'll be OK to continue, I think he is trying so hard with all the presure on him.... I saw Vaitkus is out of the Tour, had an operation last night after the crash
  13. The Clubs are affilated to the Province they belong to and the Province is affilated to CSA. You need some sort of structure. Otherwise everybody can just do as they please and te hell with the rest.
  14. I agree with Phoenix, it is great. Cycling need to move forward...are we going to be glorified funriders for ever? There should be some sort of distinction between funrider and "racer". Should have happend a long time ago.
