  1. Quote from PPA website: According to Martin Vergunst, managing director of CSC?s operations in South Africa, ?We believe Team CSC?s visit to South Africa will inspire South African cyclists of all races to achieve international success. ?It is our intention is to use Team CSC?s visit to boost local talent by giving our local CSC cyclists and other talented riders the opportunity to learn from the world?s top team.? How the hell do they expect to boost local talent and have all races get a benefit out of this if they charge R15000!!? utter bollocks, call it what it is... a money making scheme... nothing more and nothing less.
  2. I've read every post on this topic and just have the following to say: 1. Read the dam booklet and then you wont get disqualified... or be arrogant and do what you like and get disqualified... just dont bitch about it. 2. The timing incident was unprecidented so the organisers did the best they could. sh*t happens! 3. Last I checked PPA league races are not UCI sanctioned events so the whole "be at start 15 min prior to event" is completely irrelivent. 4. Officials make mistakes, they are only human. Some guys are always going to sneak through and get away with breaking the rules. As far as I am aware if an official didn't see something himself then they cannot make a ruling based on a cyclist/managers word. I mean seriously guys the officials and race organisers aren't out there to get you. The rules are the same for everyone. Be greatfull that the officials and organisers are giving of their free time to make the leagues we all love to complain about happen.
  3. This Argus entry system sucks! I got online at 12:00 and began my entry process...only to get through the first couple steps and have page timeout cause of the high load. Now the server is to busy and it wont let me back in... You would think that with the cycle tour expecting a high amount of traffic they would have distributed the load over multiple servers. Its really not that difficult to do especially considering they've had easily 6 months to figure something out. I mean is it really to difficult to ask that they have some foresight and think about the thousands of cyclists trying to enter.
  4. You better bring some lube to the next crit' date=' because you will need it you skinny bugger! [/quote'] I'm still not up to racing so wont be there, but I will let you have donkey. smileys/smiley36.gif
  5. yes' date=' some are practiced horizontal and involves your sister [/quote'] Where do you find time for that...before or after you play "bend for a friend"???
  6. Okay, well seriously... Tennis (played seriously for around 9 years) Cricket (grew up playing cricket, stopped around grade 11 at high school) Table Tennis (played for my school) Squash (occasionally for fun) Soccer (when I was in primary school, but was never that into it) Thinking of giving running and duathlon a bit of a go once my tendonitis clears up. But generally don't have time for other sports anymore, cycling is to demanding on my time. Cocaine38887.6603935185
  7. You mean there are other sports besides cycling???
  8. I have this problem most of the year. I have found that I can train and race through it, provided there isn't an infection. I actually raced the giro this year with a slightly sore throat and post nasal drip. The best thing to do is to get salex nasal spray. It keeps you nasal cavity moist and the salt in the solution helps prevent infection. Also if you feel you getting ill and want to avoid anti-biotics get local biotal. Its a nasal and throat spray which tastes horrible but works really well. I also alway carry some xxx mints around and suck them constantly. Try to drink alot of water aswell. Just be carefull to get adequite rest after training as you will be slightly more susceptable to infection then most people. Hope that helps...
  9. Giant all the way! I would only ride another frame if I was sponsored to ride it...but if I'm spending my own money, then nothing beats a Giant!!!
  10. Personally I always look to improve. So if there is a possibility I could change my setup to be more efficient, I would. Just measure your current saddle height and then go and get your setup done proffesionally. If after a couple of weeks you want to go back to the way it was you can...and atleast then you wont have the question sitting in the back of your mind. Best way to go about making adjustments to your bike is in small increments. Otherwise you will end up picking up problems...
  11. Excuse my ignorance, but when is the Jock? It sounds like it could be quite a bit of fun...
  12. Get a Sella Italia SLR. Once you're used to it you wont have to worry about saddle sores or kids smileys/smiley36.gif Hows that for killing two birds with one stone.
