  1. I was wondering if dirt or mud will have an effect on the "sliding mechanism"?
  2. Thanks, but I live in Mauritius. I will go for the normal 6803 and I am sure it should be OK.
  3. Thank you, I found this that explains the Internal Clearing. https://blog.slsbearings.com.sg/why-is-normal-clearance-no-longer-the-normal They say C3 is slightly larger than normal. So I wonder if I can use Cn rather than C3 in the hub.
  4. I need 6803 - C3 bearings to rebuild an American Classic rear hub. The supplier says he can get 6803 bearings, but not the C3. The 6803 bearing size is standard 17 x 26 x 5 mm. Does the C3 play a role and if so what? Thank you.
  5. My son and I did the 97 km yesterday, it was our first road race in South Africa. It was very well organized and we both thoroughly enjoyed it. I had a look at the 97km and 71km results and pulled out the following: 97km – Youth riders – 34/1072 Male U19 – 20 Male U17 – 7 Male U15 – 2 Female U19 – 4 Female U17 – 1 Female U15 – 0 71km – Youth riders – 15/273 Male U19 – 6 Male U17 – 0 Male U15 – 3 Female U19 – 1 Female U17 – 1 Female U15 – 0 That is a combined total of 49 out of 1345 riders (71 and 97), only 3.6% My son did the Lomond Triathlon solo sprint late last year. I think it is an ideal event for children with 400 m swim, 15km cycle and 6km run. Out of the 97 competitors (M and F) only 8 were between the ages of 12 and 17. I also had a look at the results of 2019 Blue Lagoon triathlon in Langebaan. Again, distances that I think are ideal for children. 400m swim 10km cycle and 2.5km run. There were only 8 competitors (M and F) between ages 12 to 15. One would think that with the strong swimming, cycling and running culture in the Western Cape that these events will attract a lot more youth competitors. Maybe it is the cost involved or the fact that summer sports like cricket and waterpolo overshadows the rest.
  6. I found an entry. Does anyone know how substitution normally work? I emailed Racetec this morning, but not sure if I am going to get a reply in time. Thanks.
  7. I am new to road cycling events. As part of the entry I also paid R140 for a RaceTec chip. I believe that the chip is linked to my race number. Does anyone who to contact to get the RaceTec chip that I paid for? Thank you.
  8. I am not sure where the gate is, but I rode up there this morning for 3 km, but the wind forced me to turn around about 500 m from the big building on the way up, which I presume is a pump or electricity station.
  9. Is it allowed to cycle on the road just after Gordons Bay that goes up to the Steenbras Dam? Looks like a honest climb.
  10. After getting some infro from Velouria (Hubber) yesterday I did the ride from Somerset West to Bettys Bay and back for the first time this morning. Except for the first 15 km from Somerset to Gordons Bay the rest of the ride was absolutely stunning, the fact that there was no wind and it was sunny probably help. I left at 6:20 and on the way out from Gordons Bay only 5 cars pass me, there were more traffic on the way back but nothing to worry about. The road surface is also perfect. I think this will be my default ride in the future.
  11. Thanks! What is the temperature there this morning?
  12. Thank you very much. Looks like JT has a few hours sleep. Arno is going slower than expected, wonder why? Great of you to keep us updated!
  13. Thanks, will you please let us know what time Arno and Alex arrived and left.
  14. I use this bag and has paid never extra. My wife and son flew Emirates to Bali last year with a long board and two 5.6 surfboards ans also did not pay anything extra. Sporting goods normally don't have an extra charge. Size: outer: 147 x 36 x 85 cm
  15. Very sad news, all round nice guy. RIP Johann
  16. What is the TCR?
  17. Very good choice on the WTB Nano's! Perfect tyres for the Munga.
  18. I see she has entered the Desert Dash.
  19. Can you send his number to me too please? Thanks. Eddie
  20. If you are not taking a backpack then the other option is to do it Jeannie Dreyer style and put two bottles in your jersey pockets.
  21. Because the cages are open on the side the bottles are not very secure so I used a velcro strap around each cage. The straps was just tight enough to hold the bottles without having to undo the strap each time I took them in and out. It worked well.
  22. I used a topeak triathlon double bottle cage that attaches to the saddle with 2 x 950 ml water bottles. My spare clothing was in a home made 4 L cylindrical bag attached to the front handlebars. See photo.
