  1. Need some advise: - My right foot is really sore. The pain is under the foot in the arch area. However, by morning time, the pain has moved to the top of the foot above the arch as well. There are times that the pain will spread to the base of my toes (mostly bog toe) as well. It become a bit more bearable walking around during the day but does not go away. What could this be? (My husband seems to think it has something to do with the tendon under my foot)
  2. Also do not understand why the chip was handed over for somebody else to run with. Anyway, sounds like punishment will be dealt and hopefully lessons learnt.
  3. I hope this is not the same runner I saw while marshalling at Irene Ultra. A runner blatantly got out a car at about 35km (a mere 100m from where I was marshalling) and joined the run. I think he ran part of the run, got in a car and then got dropped off later. Did not get his number so cannot tell who he was but at the time I was shocked to see something like that happen.
  4. Running shoe question: - I currently run in Brookes Ghost 10. They have a heel drop of 12mm. These shoes have about 350km on them. Recently I have suffered with extremely tight and sore calf muscles (before 1km even sometimes), incredible sore right hip and now the latest is piriformis muscle syndrome. This is getting so bad now that I can hardly run. Do you think it could be the running shoes? Previously I ran in New Balance and had tight calves but no other issues. Very frustrating
  5. I think you have enough advise re the last run. My experience is the last run is very hard. Also had the experience that feels like you have run 2km and it is actually only 200m. Off that topic though - I am looking for a duathlon to do here in Gauteng (sprint one). Know of any here please?
  6. Enjoy OMTOm tomorrow guys. Come back and give us race reports in detail please
  7. Anybody here suffer from a stress fracture at the top of the femur? Went to the doctor about an ongoing nagging ache in my hip area. She did x-rays and, hello, what is that hair line mark on the top of the femur. Now I have to wait till 26 April to see a orthopedic guy to do an MRI so a closer look can be made.
  8. Condolences to the families of the 2 cyclists and the marshal. Very sad indeed. RIP to the cyclists and marshal.
  9. Anyone here been diagnosed with compartment syndrome? going for sonars but it looks more and more like what I am experiencing. Wondering, without looking at google, what the treatment is like and whether it means no running for a while. I will be very sad.
  10. So sad. RIP fellow cyclist. Condolences to family.
  11. Love my Ghost 10's. I changed from New Balance.
  12. Did not run the marathon, only the 10km. Nicely organised. Nice route but very popular so a bit congested in places. Overall good run.
  13. I experienced the same thing when at home. I thought they scored that as an automatic safe day
  14. Funny thing is that the Gautrain trip is picked up on safe dayz and it rates at 100%. Not sure if t picks it up that it is the train but if not that train goes at 160km an hour.
  15. Thanks Gen. Not showing at all.
  16. Gen - We were on Private Club in 2017. I see we are still on Private Club (bonus!) for 2018. I am busy doing all the questionnaires, etc. to get the points that I can upfront. However, does this mean we are on Private Club till the end of the year and then reassessed again for 2019 based on the points earned in 2018? Another question is: - My safe days is only picking up some trips I make in a day. This morning's journey was not picked up at all. My location setting on my phone is on and I had it with me. Why would that be?
  17. Very pretty. However, will stick to my Brooks.
  18. Done about 10 Parkruns. Only done the Midstream one. Cannot get below 28 minutes. Very frustrating
  19. Haha Irene Club is the closest. Will give them a shout and see what they have to offer. Thanks.
  20. Anyone a member of Run / Walk for Life? Is it worth joining for their training? I am looking for somebody to run with as well as have structured training for up to 21km.
  21. Did the King Price Irene Farm race (half marathon) on Saturday. Very cold morning with blustering wind Very nice run. Great scenery, well organised, not a double lap, etc. Was very chilly and due to the numbers who entered, the start (uphill) was very slow. Once out of the ARC the field opened up and we could run our own race. My 2nd half marathon done and finished it in 2 hours 16 minutes (first one was the Clover Irene Race and finished that in 2 hours 33 minutes). Nice mix of uphills and down hills. Some offroad, etc. Will put this in my calendar for next year.
  22. Exactly my problem as well. Funny thing is that it swaps legs every now and then.
  23. "The funny part is I have this stiffness in the outside of my calf, the muscle there that goes right up into the back of the knee. That is stiff and sore." This is exactly what I have. It is really frustrating and I cannot find out what is causing it. If you ever work out what it is, please let me know.
  24. Bought the Brookes Ghost 10 for ladies. I found them super comfortable from day 1. Each foot is different though
