  1. Year started okay. Training more for triathlons than running. Then in August went on a cruise and ended up running more than cycling or swimming. Came home with shin splints. Rested a while, saw a bio and then was told to go for an easy run. Hello, stress fracture. Only getting back t running now - 20 minutes at very slow pace. So frustrating. At least my swimming has improved 200%
  2. I gave my entry to somebody else who will do the necessary to transfer to his name.
  3. I am just sad. Have picked up a rather serious injury from triathlons (stress fracture of my tibia) so had to give up my entry. Was so looking forward to this race.
  4. I will be there, but for the 70.3. Deferred Durban now in October 2022 to PE next year due to sea e-coli and shin splints. Hope all goes well for March 2023.
  5. E-coli levels even worse at the published readings today. I think it is a done deal. Duathlon it will be or I will eat my hat. E-coli levels well over 5,000.
  6. Start thinking duathlon instead of triathlon for Durban. The Ecoli levels are really bad
  7. Not a chance I am throwing more money into a Durban event at this stage
  8. So Durban postponed till who knows when. I need a purpose to carry on training.
  9. Anyone signed up for Durban 70.3 in just over 2 weeks time? Do you think we are going to swim with the level of e-coli in the sea?
  10. Cyclists and runners, please be aware that crime is rife in Centurion at the moment. Areas targeted in my direct residence: - 1. Olievenhoutsbosch Road 2. Nelmapius Road 3. Route 21 Corporate Park There seems to be a gang driving around in a White VW Polo (no number plates). They are armed and dangerous. Apparently they are driving in front of runners and cyclists (very slowly like they are lost). They suddenly stop and 4 men jump out with guns. They are taking watches, jewelry, cell phones, bicycles and running shoes.
  11. RIP buddy. Cycling mate is in ICU. Critical but stable.
  12. Need assistance please. How do I connect Zwift onto my phone via Blue Tooth as well as my Polar Vantage M for heart rate recording please? I can get it to connect to my phone but then it will not connect to my watch as well.
  13. Hope she is okay. A bit of a strange story on face value.
  14. So sad. I did my first 70.3 at Sun City Ultra a few weeks ago. Finished in 6hours 50 minutes. Was really hard. The water was choppy, the wind blew from the side on the bike and the run is seriously hard. Anyway a few days of rest and onward and upward with training / recovery as Durban was on the horizon. Went out for a slow, flat 6km run and felt a pain in my right achilles. Nursed achilles for a few days and then the pain really set in. Off to doc. Sent for a scan. Hello Grade 1 tear to the right achilles. Farewell 2021 Durban. Deferred to 2022. Oh well, at least 2021 saw me do a 70.3. Now got my sights on: - Germiston 5150 if it happening 947 cycle Redhub triathlon sprint
  15. I see on their website the first Trinity tri event is 13 December 2020. Cannot make that one as my daughter has her swimming champs then.
  16. I am gutted. Just about to start tapering for my first triathlon and boom there it goes. Hard work, dedication and family time taken up for training to have it taken away. Second one this year - First 70.3 Durban and now this. Our entries are carried over to next year but next year is May and Durban is in June. Not great. Damn you Sun City
  17. So sad. Consolences to his family and friends. Run in Peace fellow runner
  18. Praying they find the runner and all is okay.
  19. Did you pause your watch at all in the run or maybe have it on automatic pause when stationery? The other reason for this is that you ran more than the 21.1km and they then adjust the time down
  20. Did the 21.1km. Cut 14 minutes of my PB. Clearly garden running did me good. Have you looked at the results? Finding it a bit hard to believe the 90km results. If they are correct, then hats off to the leading lady
  21. Only doing the half marathon on Sunday. No ways I would run 90km and then alone with no spectators - no ways!
  22. I have not been getting active days points since April 2020. My Active Days is showing up (mostly) with no point allocation.
  23. Our running club has let us know that The Department of Public Works has issued a notice that all officials that worked at Om Die Dam on Saturday could have been in contact with the coronavirus. Athletes told not to panic but to rather watch carefully for symptoms.
  24. All those training for Durban 70.3, I really hope they do not cancel or postpone this race. All the training I have dedicated to this race as well as the costs to enter - the Corona Virus had better be sorted out by then. I see IM has said that if a race is cancelled, we will be entered into next year and if postponed, we will get entered into the new date. I do not wish to even think of these cases.
