  1. Also not exactly a reply to your question, but here it goes anyway. I built this bike in 2017. A 26inch frame with 29inch wheels. Had Maxxis mud wrestler 33c tyres on. Ran a 3x8 Sora groupset with some old Avid cable disc brakes. Was a nice experience to build it, but a really 💩 ride. I was way to streched on the XL frame, perfect as an flatbar MTB, but not with drop bars. The tyres were very thin and didn't do well on our local gravel roads. I still have almost all these parts lying around and I've been toying with the idea of rebuilding it. Next time round though I'll look for a large frame (shorter reach) and for some wider tyres. I've also acquired a Farr gravel bar a few years ago for the 2.0 build. I recently fell back in love with cycling and if I'm still in love after the winter I think this build will be on the cards.
  2. Stunning pic with the beams of sun light breaking through the clouds!👌
  3. I had an great morning with beautiful weather out on the bike. Long slow distance to start rebuilding that long lost base. The wind did pic up towards the end and messed up my Zone2 ride, but still one of the best ways to spend a Saturday morning.
  4. Both my kids had their birthdays in April and both got new bikes. My girl (4) upgraded from a balance bike to her first 16" with pedals, and my boy (15) finally moved up to a 29er.
  5. Thanks, going to try this out.
  6. Sundowner ride this evening. Literally ride off into the sunset.
  7. This is awesome. My youngest outgrew the Feva Seat about a year ago, and this past weekend she upgraded from her balance bike to her first 16" peddle bike for her 4th birthday. Oldest is getting his first 29er this coming weekend for his 15th birthday. It's awesome to share a passion for cycling with your kids.
  8. Not today, but yesterday. Cool, wet morning in the Breederivier Valley.🌧
  9. RIP fellow cyclist and condolences to his family and friends!😔 It seems like nowhere is safe anymore. Even here in the platteland my local cycling group have had a few close calls with hit and runs on the open roads outside town. Unfortunately a few of them have been fatal, the latest being a local legend passing on in early December. This is around Worcester, on all roads coming in and going out of town.
  10. Quick one this evening. The evenings are getting short now. 1st pic going out 3rd coming back in, the focus portrays my condition...😮‍💨
  11. What great scenery Dave!🙌
  12. Nice pic!👌 Gave me a flashback to the very first pic posted to start this thread.
  13. This looks like a moerse lekker ride.👌
  14. At Brandvlei Dam outside Worcester. It's mostly closed to the general public, except for cyclists. The road runs through Nekkies Resort and across a private farm before you pop out on the Villiersdorp Road at Cilmore Cellar. Across the dam in the last two pics (under the clouds) you can see Brandvlei Correctional Facilities.
  15. Overslept and missed a group ride. So headed out for a solo. What a good feeling to be out on the bike again!
  16. Thank you, glad to be back.🤙
  17. Lol! I see this thread turned into a Geoid advertisement. 😁 Which I am glad for. Not sure how many more km's I have left on my Giant Neostrack unit and this looks like a very good option for replacement. 👌
  18. Good day people, I've stated getting back on the bike this year but it's a struggle. Went out for a short ride last night on my local trails. Good for the body and the mind!
  19. That's awesome! Enjoy the heck out of it!🙌 When I did my last Argus in 2020 my son also wanted to know when he could join me. I told him he was allowed to participate when he was 12 and that we could do it on a tandem. Life happened and this ☝️never did. He's 13 now. Since I've started on the bike again in December and he's been joining me on a few rides, I've been thinking maybe 2026 could be the year. Not on a tandem though.
  20. This sounds like a fair compromise for both parties IMHO.
  21. Openmind summed it up pretty well. I would just add that Shimano parts are usually more accessible depending on where you are based. The fact that your bikeshop wants to replace with Shimano is likely to do with this.☝️
  22. (Tuesday)Chooseday ride on our local trails in the mountains.
  23. Hi there, you can try King's Cycle in Worcester. They stock a wide range of spokes for all different makes and models. You can ask to speak to Oom Jan or Johan. They are usually very willing and helpful. 0233472958
  24. Had a spirt of Monday motivation yesterday afternoon to go out for a ride and seized the moment before it passed.
  25. Hi guy's, I haven't been round here in a while. Riding with my kid has become riding with kidS in the past few years. My son who started out riding with me on his 16" bike 10years ago is now a big boy. I've been off the bike for some time and started riding again in December with the Ginga Ninja doing odd 20km loops with me. My 2y/o daughter also rides with occasionally on her feva seat and is enjoying it alot.
