  1. Race director briefing and within the race book it states that N7 may be used. Overseas teams (and off course SA teams) just to be cautious and vigilant as this is a national highway/road.

Dave do you know if there ever was anything about their, and the French team's use of the N7 early in the race?

  2. Corrected!  ;)

I think this is the lowest finish rate i have ever seen at a race! Well done to everybody that finished this race!! to give you an idea, only 2 people finished the 100km trail run and only 1 guy finished the 55km trail run combined with the 150km MTB ride, i think there was 20 finishes on the 200km MTB! those dog tags are well earned!

  3. Personally I feel that he shouldn't become and act like a Prima Donna!!

Race organisers and admin staff do not have the time during a race to explain to athletes the reasons for their penalties....plain and simple remedy is NOT to put your wetsuit in the wrong and in ANOTHER athletes box!!!

When you are called for a 10 second penalty......believe me...there is a valid reason!!

Hopefully he's learned something from this prior to RIO.  I wish him the best!

  4. lerouc,

Naas Vermaak has sent you a new personal conversation entitled "Napier".

    Naas Vermaak said:

More Lerouc, ek weet nie of jy die race kom doen het nie...sal nogal jammer wees as jy nie het nie. Kommentaar soos joune rig groot skade aan vir event organisers en ek wil jou vriendelik vra om dit nie te doen nie - jy's welkom om my persoonlik te kontak as iets jou pla waar dit my events aangaan of as ek jou persoonlik te na gekom het.

    Cheers,

    Naas

Naas, i am sorry if you think my comments was a personal attack on you, it was not, as stated in my comment earlier it was a comment in general regarding people and their different opinions on issues and the gravity regarding specific issues.

You said a stuff up at registration wont affect you from doing an event again, where for some people the humiliation of standing in a queue with other people around and then getting asked if you did pay or not might be a deciding factor. The exact same thing happened to me at the tru cape event 3 years ago, and guess what, i have never done this event again.

The nice thing about online forums are different people can give their opinion regarding a specific subject, hence you get different threads. So if you rather that everyone contact you directly and not publicly where everyone can see, ask the mods to close this threat but that kind of misses the point of a thread on an online forum.

A personal conversation which you advertise widely here on the bikehub....seems to me that you are a bit of a douchebag!

  5. This weekend's race was organised by KZN MTB and as far as I understand the rules they are bound to follow CSA and thus ICU regulations which means that once a doper has served his sentence he is able to race. Basically like a thief who served his sentence, he should be considered a rehabilitated member of society.

The difference with joBerg2C, Sani, Hill2Hill and others who do not accept "former" dopers is that they are individual business entities and thus have the right to (within reason) accept and refuse entries as they see fit.

I think Epic is subtly different in that they will accept entries from before the ruling (their policy is that only dopers caught after the date of their change in rules are banned).

And that is exactly why someone like Roel Paulissen is/was still able to enter for Absa Cape Epic.... :whistling:

  6. I have lots of respect for Theresa. Especially after a recent interview of hers I read:

"For Ralph, training has to find its place between work and being a mom, too: “This is a juggling session. Training has to take place early in the mornings, over lunch times and even late at night sometimes. I plan my training around the needs of my children, as they will always come first. I would rather suffer the early cold mornings than them have less time with me."

    What an athlete.

    But more importantly...

What a parent, what a MOM.

    Agree with you 100%!!
