Just letting you know my offer still stands.

All this back and forth on whether or not ebikes are for the lazy among us. I AM lazy. And if I had the cash to have another bike, it would be an ebike trailbike...For LAZY reasons. Sure I can train more on my IDT and join 5am rides in the area on my roadie to level up myself. But I don't. I like my bit of inslaap. And that's kind of ok for my total life effort right now. Is it as healthy as being in peak condition? No. Certainly not. But it suits my lifestyle and current mental/physical load. I suspect many ebikers in the sub pro level are in a similar mindset as the one I have projected now. If my current lekker amish trailsled gets stolen...an ebike would replace it. I'd have to be damn careful though to not slip into a lifelong dependancy papte. Akin to "juicing" I guess. Viva ebikes! #notaslegitasbeingfit

Look at the smart capable tacx ones. Slap on a indoor tyre and go. Got the tacx flow from a hubber. Works nicely.

For some reason...this caught my eye. New. Decent air fork. 1x. And one of my favourite brands. GT! Anyways. Use the search filters and post whatever you fancy. Plenty great options out there I see.

Probably best to go for a hardtail 29er in large then. I've bought from other provinces, but this isn't my first rodeo. I'll have a quick look around and post my top local contender. (in the sub 8k category)

If commuting and gravel is your thing, rook as a brand is hard to beat. They're also quite pleasant to deal with. Otherwise post your location, height, inseam and intended use here and many of us will scour through the local classifieds and revert to this page for you.

I guess it depends on your clearance. The pulse carbon may or may not work. I was thinking in the line of using his existing hubs. Nice rims and rebuilt should cost a bit less than full set.

That's a bigish budget. I'd pm Dale from Lyne, csixx or south industries for carbon options. Rode alu "stans grail" rim on my old bike. They were very nice too.

I went through this exercise when setting up my initial commuter. Skinny tyres are fast but puncture easy and and are tough to set up and keep tubeless. (all relative to mtb tyres). For my first commuter setup, I went with schwalbe g-one big balloon (29x2.35) tyres. At slightly more than mtb pressure, they roll insanely well. They keep tubeless seal and can be plugged without loosing too much pressure if there is a small puncture that won't seal. I only took them off as there was just too many goatheads and glass on my route. They have such low rolling resistance. You'll spin out on anything less than a 5 percent hill.

To add to the vindication feels of this thread. I got mugged mos at knife point earlier this year. Bike gone forever. I still remember the guys face vividly. He had a pretty unique configuration of scars. Fast forward to end October. I walk though trauma in TBH on the way to my dept. Who's sitting here with two chest drains, bilateral forearm casts and a freshly sutured set of panga wounds over the back of his kop? The guy! He was accompanied by cops and ankle cuffed. So. These guys don't change their ways. And leave a lot of hurt and frustration in their wake. But they usually end up being the biggest losers when they piss off the wrong "victim". I feel like this (or worse) is the inevitable outcome for these thugs. I don't condone dishing out assault in retaliation for theft... But I did think "kry vir jou".

Silverback will be my choice if buying new and at same price point. Don't overlook Titan Racing though. (Anything with ext cup BB.)

Hahaha. My powerbank made quick work of them. Too cramped and dark for a controlled catch and release. I did utter the recommended "p-bomb" that seemed to be the theme of the day on stage 2 with them knee deep mud puddles.

My first W2W done and dusted (very dusted). Ended up being quite the workout. But nothing too serious. (My prep was daily commute and weekend 2hr-ish rides.) One thing I'll bring along next time, a proper air mattress. The one provided (blue tent option) was soft, thin and dirty with a plastic bag around it. (don't take the bag off, 2 wolf spiders came out of mine.) The fnb recharge zone was amazing. Far enough from the loud music/commentary. Good wifi. Just too few poefsakke to accommodate us all. Food was ok. Breakfast was the best.
