Reboot of thread. Just got peppersprayed (wind took most away) and almost pulled off my bike by some 4 *#@&*# on my commute home. Luckily got away. I feel now after hearing about friends getting planked/bricked off their bikes too, there may very well be a time and a place for full face visored commuter helmets. Think "Kask lifestyle" with a chinny and more vent holes.

Both are reputable brands. Both have entry level to professional level offerings. I wouldn't really base my entry level dual sus bike choice on shock type of one comes with RS and the other fox. Something like geo/fork/overall spec would be more on my nitpic list. What two bikes are you look at?

Had numb toes issue too. Lake shoes solved it.

Have a look at my cotic escapade (In the classifieds). I built it up a few years ago. No sign of giving in. Steel is real. I weight quite a bit more than you kitted up with commuter backpack on.

Shoes not mentioned here that solved my numb/cramping foot issues. Adidas Terrex trail cross shoes. The ones meant for flat pedal riding. Bought some off a buddy that imported the wrong size in 2017. No quality issues. Grips better than my 510 freeriders. Stiffer sole and roomier front foot box. Got a second pair just in case. Really the best shoes for guys with ample foot volume.

Plenty good deals floating around second had on the hub. Factor in a full service though. They can be pricey.

Anyone know of an XL cotic simple floating around. My commute needs some SS action to spice things up.

I feel perhaps the solution is riding with a full face Enduro helmet with cloth neatly on the vent holes. Think a tight helmet bag and then purse string bottom at the neck. Ventilation with a makeshift visor will be tricky. Perhaps an air jet inflo? Anyone with real world practical experience. How to aftermarket modify your bell super 3/2r?

I got my father a silver back scoop back in the day to get back into cycling. Cost 18k new. Sold it eventually due to a myriad of excuses he had. He is also 145kg @ 1.9m. Retrospect tells me he may have gotten into it had he started off with one of those chilled squirrel sand eaters. Have a look at their site. They make decent wattage long range sand carving machines. They do it custom too so should be able to build something decent that you'd WANT to ride. It mustn't be a sukkel.

I would say it's safe to cycle outside. At least my route has limited to no stagnant alleyways with coughing mafia groups loitering about. If that is however your commute situation, maybe you should revise the route for other reasons

I was pondering this dilemma a while back before we had showers at work. Was looking at those camping showers with the self contained water catcher and hang up bag. May be worth looking into for some.
