  1. I gather from Andrew Mclean's twitter that it was two guys with guns. I guess this is the work of a syndicate, this looks like organised crime.
  2. What a cock-up! Didn't even tell the commentators what was going to happen so old Geerts and Mal was just as confused as we were...
  3. Hekpoort on the Sattelite Classic is by far the toughest climb of the races around Gauteng . It gets to 40degrees and comes at the 90km mark, is about 270m vertical and last for 7km's. Overall the 94.7 is tougher though as a complete race. A windy Argus is the toughest. (Haven't done the Jock yet, I'm too scared)
  4. Robbie Hunter (via Twitter) "I can't belive (sic) the pathetic Lab is still on about this whole thing!! By the way Floyd has no intention of going to France EVER, so good luck!!" At least he still has friends...
  5. Get on your bike on a Sat & Sunday at around 6:30am, hit the spruit in the direction of Emerentia and you'll pick up riders very quickly. You may even see me once monsoon season has passed!
  6. I'm not looking forward to is seeing Ricco; Vino; Basso, Valverde and the other conviced cheats riding the Tour this year...
  7. The Lance & The Argus!!! link... https://www.bikehub.co.za/forum_posts.asp?TID=75600&PN=3BendeBeer2010-02-04 01:53:31
  8. Where can I find the starting groups and times? I can't find any links on the Cyclelab and Cyclingnews websites?
  9. Oom Solly se gift shoppie... Nou ook in Woodmead!
In elk geval kan min uitrustings by verlede jaar se Garmin outfit kom - dis die standaard vir fugly as jy my vra!
  11. I see the elites did the Telkom Satellite in 2hrs 24 as opposed to a 2hrs 14 for the 94.7 Fun Question time - which race was the toughest for you? I thought the 94.7 was slightly tougher due to 220m of extra elevation and heat and wind factor which would not affect the pro's so much - although the Telkom had Hekpoort... Due to a broken chain I can't really compare times although I would guess an extra 5minutes on the 94.7 for me.
  12. Agteros jy's 'n legend - geniet sondag! (al die geween oor gratis monsters het my al lankal grensloos begin irriteer...)
  13. Cyclelab Fourways - for not making me feel like a total bike dork when I brought in my 7 year old bike after a technical breakdown last saturday, and then sorting it out including a service as it was an emergency (even though they were clearly fully booked up to the 94.7). I have found them to be the most beginner friendly bike store in the area - some of the other shops looks at anything other than less than 18-month old carbon like something the cat brought in..
  14. Frosty, it has been a few years since I last rode the Carnival city race, but the last time I done it I know you guys did a helluva job in sweeping the corners and filling the potholes. The Carnval City is definitley on my list of to-do rides next year. Keep up the good work. Agreed - the road markings at the Carnaval City is brilliant - missed that on yesterday's route as there's no ways of spotting the rumble strips beforehand and it was quite hairy. When I came through there were no water left at the last 2 water points or at the finish I can't understand how you can run out of water yet have tons of powerade left at a waterpoint.
  15. You can get the Cycle Sport at CNA for R86 but then it is generally a month or so late
  16. I think that Brandon and GoLefty have taken this discussion forward quite a bit actually. BendeBeer2009-03-20 09:23:58
  17. ? ? Ok hold on here, we're not talking about the same thing. ? Without the information present in the email that Brandon are Zoon are refering too it's difficult to understand the conversation. ? To me it looks like one company did a comparison chart against a competitor but did not represent that competitors product spec correctly and then distributed this comparison chart to retailers when both companies COMPETE in the same market. That could be viewed as false advertising which is not exactly legal either... ? this seems to be a big compnay flexing it's muscle and threatening to start a price war (which would be nice for consumers) in order to make his competitor hurt (thats competition..) ? Perhaps not?a very?nice thing to say?but it's certainly not Anti-Competitive as it's one distributor facing off against another. the consumer wins. ? Brandon may as well have said, "Zoon, I don't like you, you smell bad, I'm buying your company." ? ? lastly, I don't think Brandon made himself out to be honourable by posting his companies stance on the alledged price fixing fiasco. He merely made a position statement. that has little to do with integrity, and a lot to do with Probikes stand on competition amongst it's retailers. Thanks GoLefty - I suppose the anti-competitive behavior in a price war would be where you intend selling below cost to wipe out a competitor and thereafter raise prices to higher than it was before?
  18. Re Unicycle's post: Isn't comparative advertising banned by the ASA? Maybe that's where the complaint by Probike should have be directed? Secondly, threatening a competitor with selling goods at below cost to wipe him out may amount to something like abuse of dominant market position - I sense there are some lawyers posting on this thread - Anyone like to clarify? If this email is authentic I'm sure the CC would like a copy. Clearly Unicycle is scared of retribution and that's why he is posting anonymous. From the wording of the email it sure looks like he has reason to be scared.
