  1. 661 Recon is great value I'd say.
  2. I still think it's gonna end up being Enduro comp vs Reign 2. What a great dilemma to have!
  3. Black and Yellow colour scheme is a winner!
  4. Id go OneTen with a Pike on the front
  5. Unreal. Well done to the Crankworx organizers for letting him jol.
  6. I think the one they've got is the 29er, but apparently the 650b is on its way and should cost the same. It really is a sweet deal. Haha that lumo green stumpy belongs to Dewald who works at BMT. According to him that bike arrived in SA by accident. I asked whether we'd be getting evos and he said no. Hopefully we get lucky though. I obviously can't speak on behalf of shops with regards to specific build prices, but all the quotes I got for a OneForty were very reasonable. I know Brenton has an X-fusion vengeance that he could snap on a OneForty for you. You'd save quite a bit going for a Pike alternative. I'm definitely sure there are guys on the hub way more knowledgeable than me in this regard though. Best advice I was given though was to buy the bike YOU want to ride.
  7. BMT Stellenbosch will sell you a brand new 2015 Enduro comp for 34k if you EFT. I was chatting to them the other day and it doesn't look like we'll be getting any stumpy evos again this year. Bleak. Otherwise, Rocky Mountain has some decent options too. The altitude that falls within your price bracket comes with full xt/slx build and has a fox 34 fork. The ride9 will also help your climbing needs. Maybe consider the Pyga OneTwenty as well. Pygas are such hot bikes right now. Chat to Brenton (Bibi on the hub), he knows how to pimp out those pygas. Good luck man. Let us know what you end up going for.
  8. There must be a syndicate running in and around stellies. The demand for bikes is high and I'm sure every petty thief knows that. I walked past Hazz coffee shop in Ryneveld street the other morning and noticed a shady character staring at 2 S-Works Epics with hungry eyes. The bikes were resting against a tree unchained. I made eye contact with him and he immediately walked in the opposite direction, but as I continued to walk he approached the bikes again. I turned and went to confront him, but he crossed the street and disappeared into the parking lot. I hope something is done to eradicate this problem asap. Eden forest is far less fun when you're expecting the worst while flowing down the trails. Hope you get your bike back Campbell.
  9. X-fusion trace or Pike 140mm I'd say
  10. Unbeatable in terms of value. Pity Canyon don't ship to SA, I'd love a Spectral 29 ex. Seeing as we're on the topic of direct sales companies who don't ship over here... Why not become the envy of the gravity community and get a YT Capra
  11. Anyone know when the new Reign lands in SA? Any news on pricing as well?
  12. Canyon Spectral 29 Ex. If only we could get them over here. I'd say ideally that or a Stumpy Evo. Specialized didn't bring any 2014 evos into the country though. Hopefully that changes in 2015.
  13. Anyone know about ordering from LT bikes? I'm quite keen on the ltk098 frame. Any feedback would be great.
  14. Definitely not mine, but my word is she beautiful. BMC Impec Lambo edition.
  15. Fair enough. I definitely can't afford to pay over 30k right now. Haha might have to use some vac work contacts and work a little harder during our June/July break. Thanks for all the input guys
  16. That is a fat student budget haha Haha I must have underestimated pricing then. Every review I've read talks about the Hecklers "competitive price bracket"; I'm guessing that doesn't translate yo the SA market. Nevertheless, I've asked for a quote. Will let you guys know. Will look at the PYGA too. Local is lekker
  17. Hi hubbers, I've recently gotten into the MTB scene. My 1st event was a very wet and muddy Gravel Travel, but I loved every second of it! I currently ride a large 09 S-Works Stumpjumper. I love the bike, but I'm looking to get something newer before the value of this 26er depreciates completely. There are also days when I don't feel as if the bike is "mine" as I bought it second hand and it hasn't been set up to my spec as of yet. Being 191cm and 103kg I also feel the large frame isn't as comfortable as an XL. So here's my question. I'm looking for something that I can ride XC races on as well as the odd gravity enduro. I do a lot of riding in Jonkershoek, Eden and G-spot seeing as I study in Stellies. Factoring that in obviously means I'm on a student budget. I've thought about it a lot and when describing a good climbing bike that is also a decent descender, one tends to revert straight back to the stumpy. It is the benchmark, but for some reason I just want something different. I've looked at various options and the ones that stand out are the Giant Trance 650b and the Santa Cruz heckler. I love the sound of the heckler, but just curious as to availability within South Africa. Any advice would be greatly appreciated, Regards, Gareth
  18. Today was my first ever cycling event and jeez you mtb'ers are a lekka bunch of okes! Thanks for the warm welcomes and banter on the trail, it was a jol.
  19. I'm guessing Helderberg
