  1. Forgive the dumb question- compact is 50/34 and standard is 53/39?Does R 2,500 for a new 53/39 as quoted by LBS for FSA cranks sound correct?
  2. Does changing the cranks and chain rings require a whole new BB or does it just slot straight in?I would either stay with FSA as per original spec, or change to Campy. Any input?
  3. About 1570 grams. They're only about 390 grams less than the previous wheels, but I think the difference in quality of the hubs makes an incredible difference once they're rolling. And, being stiffer, when you put in a few hard pedal strokes to get back on the bunch, they just seem to accelerate quicker.
  4. I got such good advice on the Hub regarding my wheel upgrade, so I'm back for more info. I ride a Bianchi with Campagnola Veloce components. I feel like I'm running out of gears on fast flats and descents I have been training quite hard over the last few months, so I'm sure that I'm stronger. My question is this: Should I be changing the 50/34 chain ring to a 53/39? What change will this make in terms of speed? What difference will this make in terms of energy required to turn the pedals, especially on the hills? Or, do I change the rear cassette? Do I have to buy the cranks/chain rings/BB as a set, or can I combine components?
  5. So, I got to ride my new Zonda's on Saturday. Wow, they just feel faster. Big Grin!!!
  6. Thanks all for the input. I've just ordered my new Zondas which I collect tomorrow. I'll be the guy flying up the hills on Saturday.
  7. That was my feeling. However, new Eurus wheelset plus tyres plus sprocket around 12.5k!!
  8. Tubby or clincher? Why would I choose one of the other?
  9. Some advise please. I ride a Bianchi Centro Strada C2C that I absolutely love. I am considering upgrading the wheels and have no clue where to start. I weigh 82 kg and have been road riding for about 9 months. To start with, there are a few issues I'd really appreciate some input on: 1. I assume that it would be sacrilege to put anything other than Italian wheels on my Bianchi. The components are all Campagnola, so obviously that would appear to be the place to start. 2. Do I sell my current wheels (only done about 800 km), and put the sprocket on the new wheels? Then I would do all my riding on the new wheels only. Or should I have two sets of wheels? 3. Should I buy new from my LBS or can I buy second hand off the Hub? 4. I would like to stay under 10k all in with tyres, sprockets etc. Will I feel a real improvement in my ride at this price point? I love the "comfort" element of my ride. How do I upgrade without ruining this?
