I marshaled a Cycle Lab group on Saturday. When riding on the front, I warned slower riders that a large group was coming past. There were around 30 of us in the group and often novice riders get scared when such large group comes past. Why don't you come and ride with us one Saturday morning? We cater for all speeds from novice to racing snakes. The marshals work very hard to keep the groups organised and safe. Sure, there are idiots sometimes, but by and large we ride a disciplined and friendly bunch and I have never experienced the kind of aggression the OP is talking about.

So, the Hansom has been restored to her former glory (almost). Complete respray, wheels rebuilt, all bearings replaced. Some nuts and bolts needed to be replaced with shiny, new ones, but other than that I'm quite pleased with the result

My Zini is a Hansom. I have just got my wheels back from a full rebuild and will hopefully take her on her first ride on Sunday. I'm sooooo excited. Pics will follow.

Annette at Cycledelic on the East Rand resprayed my Hansom and replaced all the stickers. The bike looks like the day it came out the factory. IMO - restore it to original to keep the old bikes im circulation. The world doesn't need another single speed, but it does need more lovingly restored bikes that remind us of our history and heritage.

And where would one start to find such a wondrous thing for a pair of Shimano 80's pedals?

Can someone please show me what the cleats look like for bikes with toe clips? I'm assuming that there is such a thing as the old shoes above ll appear to have a cleat fitting.

Then Rivonia, Alon, Ridgeway, Bowling, Western Service - cross motorway on pedestrian bridge, Old Pta, Thora Crescent at around 7.20 Afternoon at around 5.00 - Thora, Old Pta, cross motorway on pedestrian bridge, Ridgeway, Alon, Rivonia, Kelvin, Summit, Colerain, 14th, Mattie, William Nicol and Republic. About 16km each way. Mostly on pavements and paths. I'd love some company!!

I ride Hurlingham to Rivonia at around 5.30 am on Monday and Friday mornings, where I go to gym. I thjen leave Rivonia at around 7.20 to ride to Wynberg. I ride straight from Wynberg to Hurlingham leaving at 5.00 on Monday or 4.00 on Friday.

I found an original pair from Solomons at the 94.7 Expo. Is there any secret in terms of putting them on?
