  1. I've been using this - Kokee | Everyday Hydration Lekker flavour. About R8 per serving.
  2. What about a painted list alongside Dennis' mural where we record the names of our deceased cycling friends and family - a Wall of Remembrance would make a pretty strong statement.
  3. Great job. Pledge paid. Thanks for the initiative,
  4. I would like to contribute as well.
  5. We need to do whatever we can to improve our odds. Flashing lights, bright colours are things we can control. Dumb, distracted, aggressive drivers we can't change... SMIDSY - (sorry mate I didn't see you) - is a real issue around the world - here's some science- Intro3 understanding the SMIDSY | Science Of Being Seen
  6. And, we need to ensure that we are visible. Bright colours and flashing lights front and rear. I'm still amazed at the number of cyclists heading out towards Chappies in the early morning wearing dark kit and without lights. We can never condone the awful driving on our roads, but we really need to accept some responsibility for making ourselves seen!
  7. I'm looking for the other side of the Go-Pro connector. The bit with two fingers. It needs to have a two-screw attachment. I need to mount my light. Happy to pay or to buy the whole arrangement.
  8. Emirates broke my frame coming back from Paris. They messed me around for ages before telling me that they didn't really care about me or my bike. Fortunately, I was well insured but I'll never fly with my own bike. I'd rent it on the few days I planned to ride. It's a real PITA getting your bike into an Uber or onto the tube when you arrive. It takes up a whole lot of space in your accommodation as well.
  9. I've joined a swim squad and started open-water swimming in the last 9 months. It certainly feels like it's helped my strength and fitness. I can also get my heart rate much higher on a hard swim than I can on a run...
  10. The open water swimmers doing Robben Island swear by this too...
  11. P4D Laptop Projector Stand, Heavy Duty Tripod Height Adjustable (28 to 41inch) Laptop Stand () | Makro I picked this up from Makro. R 629 seemed a better deal than trusting my lack of DIY skills...🤫
  12. Have you tried Ciovita? I bought one of there suits. Lekker product, reasonably priced. And close to the CBD.
  13. I've got a lekker fast TT route from the lighthouse in Green Point. Set my PB (nowhere near 20 minutes 😪) last month Easier than fighting your way through the Park Runners. You can then do the PR as a cool-down after. Lemme know if you want the GPX.

Cycle Lab offer a great store-to-store service. I used it from Joburg to Cape Town.
  15. There's a guy on the Hub who 3d prints them. I bought one and it worked really well. Lemme see if I can find his details. Found it: marshace
  16. I've managed to time a trip to Europe to coincide with the Zurich Marathon in April. Not cheap at CHF129 entry fee... around R 2,600. But it does include a t-shirt...🤣
  17. I'm starting to get p-ed off with Garmin!! On 15 July, they sent the following alert: Garmin has identified an issue with the NEO Bike Plus trainer that can cause overheating or in rare circumstances, fire. Use the following instructions in the service alert below to update your software, and then do not use the external power supply. Since then I've queried multiple times with Garmin SA. Response has been underwhelming to say the least: Thank you for contacting Product Support. Apologies for for the issue experienced. Currently we are still awaiting further feedback from engineering / testing. As son as they have feedback you will be notified of the way forward. Hope you have a good day, The unit works, but only under it's own internal power. So when you stop pedalling it switches off plus two of the features (USB charging ports and road feel) don't work. The unit is 9 months old. Anyone else with the same trainer?
  18. I ran a marathon last weekend with one of the SiSu gels and two Gu's for the caffeine. I like the low flavour of the SiSu and the convenience of the flip top is a win for me. Lots of small doses make it easier to consume.
  19. Pirates is an incredible club. They have an amazing vibe with lots of runs every week and all sorts of paces. Try a Tuesday TT. 5:45 start. I started running there to have a catch up with an old mate. Next thing I was a member and running Two Oceans in the skull and crossbones. DM me if you want a contact name.
  20. Perhaps another perspective of the homeless issue might be useful... Watch it. Don't watch it... Use it. Don't use it...
  21. Thanks all. Once again, the Hub does its thing! Appreciate it.
  22. If your better half was just starting to ride, where in CT would you take them for the first couple of outings? Somewhere that she can get comfortable on the bike and not be scared off by traffic or technical stuff.
  23. I ordered the Sisu drink. They delivered within 72 hours. Used it today on a training run. Just the drink to fuel an easy 2 hour run. I mixed it with 8 scoops so about 80 grams of carbs. Not too sweet and I felt really good. This will be my drink of choice for a while. And, it’s relatively well priced.
