  1. I'm going to SBR on Sunday to work on my climbing skills. The aim is to do 2 laps (3 if I'm feeling good). Start from the carpark at 7am. Any Hubbers going to be doing SBR on Sunday or keen to come along?
  2. Change of plan. Now going on Easter Monday. 30% chance of rain. Leaving from main car park at 7am. Anyone keen to join. The bigger the group the faster we go
  3. Rumours, then. Thanks for clearing that up
  4. Keen to do some suffering tomorrow at Suikerbosrand tomorrow Haven't been there for a while, and heard some rumours that it is now closed to cyclists. Any hubbers know if its still open.
  5. Thanks Capricorn and leet22! Will go through in the morning.
  6. Anyone know a good bike shop in Cape Town? I'm down for Argus and bb has failed. I'm staying in Bantry Bay.
  7. Just watched stage 2 coverage on DSTV. The interviews were bizarre. Barry Mocke fighting back the tears, giving a mini-lecture on SA's history. I don't need it. First Bono, now this. I really feel for the guy. Kudos to Mr. Mocke for apologizing "unreservedly." Seems thoroughly decent, heart in right place, just WAY out of his depth
  8. Very disappointing. My sons and I were stoked about this. What a missed opportunity. Fair to say, there were problems from the start. 3 spring to mind: 1. The announcement seemed amateurish. Surely when you announce something like this you have the route, etc. worked out before. Clearly CSA hadn't. 2. Anyone try join the Tour of SA Facebook page? To get details you had to have your frienship request accepted. I'm still waiting. Hope I get it before the end of the race? 3. Advertising went up very late! Most of the folks in my club that I spoke to this morning didn't know about it.
  9. raining most of today but okay 'cos i killed myself yesterday and need bit of recovery Better weather forecast for tomorrow. May ride to durban harbour and back
  10. Any Hubbers in Ballito, I'm here until 11/01. Let me know if anyone's keen for group ride. Rode to Umhlanga yesterday, nice views. traffic a bit wild
  11. Thank you, Sean, for an excellent article and moving tribute. His life is deserving of a book project. It would make fascinating reading, given that much of it is not well known, like the Giro stage victory and the many "seconds" in Belguim. I met the Idol on a number of occasions, and was always struck by his natural presence and humility. RIP, Idol.
  12. Great pics. Getting us in the mood for today's stage
  13. I'm keen to do a longish ride on Good Friday starting Nortcliff area to Magaliesburg, Brits and then up Hekpoort hill and back along HP (130km; 25-30km/h pace. Any Hubbers keen to join the merriment?
  14. Thanks Spano. What year is yours? If you don't mind me asking what did you pay for it?
  15. I'm considering buying a Kuota Kharma frameset for R13k approx., but thought I would run it by the hub first. Anyone own one of these or know anything about them?

  19. Hi MM, sorry we missed you on Sunday. We got through the gate after queueing for a bit, and only got going at 740. Must've have missed you guys. What kit, bike were you wearing/on? Awesome ride. The wind was tough, but the climbs were like nothing I've done in Jhb. Only did one lap, but will return soon.
