He is also not allowed to make any statements about murder victim Eugene Terre'Blanche or do anything provocative. Gwede Mantashe, secretary-general of the ANC, confirmed to Beeld on Tuesday night that he and President Jacob Zuma met with the ANC youth league leader. "I've just come from Ma?hlambandlopfu (Zuma's official residence in Pretoria), where I told Malema to refrain from making inflammatory statements. He is also not allowed to sing the song ("Ayesab' amagwala") in its entirety," said Mantashe. "There will be very clear outcomes regarding Malema after our conversation with him. People will be able to see the result. The ANC and the youth league will restrain him." He said if singing the words "shoot the boer" is leading to polarisation in society, the ANC will put a stop to it. However, only the ANC can make such a decision and only after internal discussions, "because it is we as the ruling party who are leading society". "However, we are convinced that a political solution, as opposed to a legal one, will provide a holistic solution. "I'm no protector of Malema, but the irritation he causes and the problem... needs to be isolated and solved," said Mantashe. - Beeld
  2. Groups battle... by song Tue, 06 Apr 2010 10:34 http://cdn.24.com/files/Cms/General/d/493/48732c14780a4e56a52caed861ab73ef.jpg http://cdn.24.com/files/Cms/General/d/493/ff33dba4661544f8955fed2d5fdb7572.jpg Police had to separate black and white groups with razor wire as tension mounted outside the Ventersdorp Magistrate's Court on Tuesday ahead of the appearance of two people expected to be charged with the murder of AWB leader Eugene Terre'Blanche. This was after a group of white people hit and pushed a group of black people outside the court after they sang the old and new national anthems at each other ahead of the appearance of the two farm workers accused of murdering Terre'Blanche on Saturday. Police wedged themselves into the middle of the group to separate them and then pushed the black group away and began erecting razor wire to separate them. The fracas began when the white supporters of Terre'Blanche started singing "Die Stem", South Africa's apartheid era anthem, and the black observers outside the court in return sang the old version of Nkosi Sikeleli Afrika. The physical confrontation was believed to have started when a white woman sprayed the instant drink Kool Aid at one of the black people singing. Themba Mbatha, from Ekurhuleni, who had been the target, said: "We are not here to fight and the worst thing that they did now is to separate us with barbed wire." He said they came in solidarity with farm workers, because they understood their battles. Terre'Blanche headed the far right wing Afrikaner Weerstandsbeweging (AWB) organisation, and his death was being linked to ANC Youth League leader Julius Malema's singing of the song "Shoot the boer". As the police were unrolling the razor wire from their armoured vehicle, they drove into a ditch and got stuck, setting off the singing of the Afrikaner folk song "o, help 'n bietjie daar" (lend a hand), with some of the white people shouting, "find a boer and a tractor" and laughing at the police as they struggled to complete their task of separating the two races. The white group then sang "Bobbejaan klim die berg" (the baboon climbs the mountain), before a farmer appealed for calm.
  3. http://www.thezimbabwemail.com/themes/TheMail/img/mast.jpg The Zimbabwe Mail Shocking extracts from the article "HARARE - Controversial South African youth leader for the African National Congress has said ANC will follow the example of Zimbabwe's Zanu PF and start to take over white-owned farms by the end of the year." "As The Zimbabwe Mail reported elsewhere, South Africa?s ruling party, ANC is said to be planning Zimbabwean style land invasions after the FIFA 2010 World Cup, with the assistance of Robert Mugabe's Zanu PF and War Veterans Association. On Monday last week, a member of the Zanu PF security department told our reporter that Malema?s visit to Harare was a follow up to a secret high-level discussion between Zimbabwean President Robert Mugabe and his South African counterpart Jacob Zuma." "If South Africans who own land don?t recognise the reality on the ground and can no walk the mind with government in terms of what is proposed right now then in fact they are the ones who will be responsible for creating conditions of chaos which can be worse than what has been witnessed in Zimbabwe," said Nkwinti.
  4. Wow, the news @7 was shocking! I think there's something fishy about this... two youth shooting a Boer, the "shoot the boer" song, Julias malema's response was cold and very strange? He refuses to respond to the murder in his person capacity or as the ANCYL President!
  5. I also did my first online purchase from CWC. Also placed it on a Friday and arrived on Monday! CWC is outstanding, I'll buy through them anytime again

  7. Every now and again I'll buy something that does not live up to their promise. This might be an useful thread to caution buyers about bad products. I'll start. Slime Skabs Peel & Stick Patches http://a1motoringltd.co.uk/prod_images/00/01/53/SlimeSkabsBikePatches20029.jpg They simply don't work! Got a flat, got home, repaired the puncture with the skabs and inflated the tube a bit, placed it back into the rim, did everything according to instructions, pumped it up, left it over night, woke up the next morning at 4:15 am ready for my morning ride, only to find that the tube deflated! So went back to bed! Repaired the puncture a second time with the same scabs(the patch peeled of like a sticker) The second one seemed to do the trick. Finally I was on the road again the next morning, only to puncture again! Got home, repaired the puncture with the skabs and inflated the tube a bit, placed it back into the rim, did everything according to instructions, pumped it up, left it over night, woke up the next morning at 4:15 am ready for my morning ride, only to find that the tube deflated AGAIN! So went back to bed! Repaired the NEW puncture a second time with the same scabs(the patch peeled of like a sticker) The second one seemed to do the trick WOULD NOT RECOMMEND THIS TO ANYONE !!!

  19. What I appreciate most about the group I ride with is that most of the guys are very polite to motorists, at intersections some motorists would give way to us although the guys at the front already stopped, they seem to understand it to be difficult for such a large group to stop, we always make the effort to wave friendly at them to say thanks, and its so nice to see their faces. We often wave at large carriers that pass by with caution when we stop at intersection and is usually followed with a friendly honk from the driver. The single file riding is something we don't do though, but in our defense most of the roads have two or more lanes and traffic is a minimal at that time of the morning. On stretches of road where its real narrow we would fall in behind one another. But we rarely have trouble with traffic as a group. It really isn't difficult to be considerate! ?
  20. I noticed the exact same thing! The drag racing I heard about on the news, the oudshoorn accident I read about on the hub
  21. Some of those comments on the Beeld article sure made my blood boil! But no use getting worked up over it. It just amazed at how "angry" some people can be all the time. I decided to join a club because it became to dangerous for me to cycle alone! Had been PUSHED of the road two times by a bus, had to go over the curbside(with my road bike) onto the gravel to avoid an accident, the bus passed so closely its left side wheels went over the curbside of the road as it passed! Had almost got smashed into at a 3 way intersection while waiting for the light to go green, again a bus, went way over the line! If I didn't decide at that moment that I did to move! Eish! don't even want to think about it! A part of my route had a designated cycling lane, even on that stretch cars would come into my lane and barely mis me! And all this happened between 5am and 6am during the past 3-4 months of me cycling, at 6am I would be turning into our driveway. Now I wake up 4:15am to cycle 7km alone to the club, meet with them @5am, and then continue with the club for a 38km ride, Much better!!! Much Safer !!!
