I was thinking the same thing about the heat. Being from up north, I think I can deal with the wind better then with the heat. We'll see tomorrow. The part from Smitswinkel to the other side of the peninsula should be quick and fun as well!

I did a short ride to warm up this morning. I went up Kloof Nek Rd. Honestly, I walked more then I rode there, that is such a tough climb! Is Chappies just as steep? Then I have to start worrying.... although I must say, I stay in Tamboerskloof so there was no warm up, just straight up Kloof Nek for 3 km. Went down Kloof Nek on the other side, and back to town along the promenade. So many cyclists out, great atmosphere!

We're staying in an airbnb rental and are doing exactly that.

Are we allowed to shower after the race....?!

I agree about the expo. It was loud and crowded. I did buy a t-shirt and a jersey, commercialism caught me! Good news for me: my luggage finally arrived and with my own saddle on, my rented bike fits me a lot better! I put my saddle as far up front as I could. Bring it on!

Windguru predicts winds around 25km/h for CPT, that's not too bad is it? Nice to cool us down :-P Luggage: 1 out of 2 bags has arrived! Racetec and saddle are in the other bag of course. Will be delivered today, what time? Who knows! Jaja this is Afrika ;-)

This is the bike. Is it possible to raise the handle bar (what is it called in En?) I think that might help Or would it be wiser to call the rental and see if another bike is still available?

Haha I don't know my measurements I just go by how it feels compared with my bike at home. When my saddle gets here, I'll see if I can move that a bit forwards.

We're in Tamboerskloof. The luggage should arrive on time with my stuff. It's not lost, it just didn't get on our plane yesterday so it's on todays flight. But thanks for the offer. I'll give a shout if it would still be necessary after all. You SA-ans are a great bunch :-) My main worry is about the bike size. I hope that position will not become too painful.

Hi all, We just spent our first night in CPT and we woke several times from that wind?!?! How crazy is that wind. It kinda makes me nervous for sunday. :-/ Another issue: our luggage hasn't arrived! We had problems with check-in, long story. It should arrive tonight or tomorrow. It better because my cycling gear and racetec are inside. The bike I 've rented is here, pfew! It's a Giant road bike with shimano 105. It 's my size but the reach from saddle to handle bars is bigger then what I'm used to. I think the position from the saddle to the pedals is also not ideal.Any advice on that? (I can't take it on a test drive yet without my luggage! So glad I brought my women's saddle. The man saddle on it is not comfortabel to say the least)

my starting time is 8.18. I thought of arriving around 7.30. Is that early enough?
